Service Brake Visit Workshop (Can't stay out of the shop)

Service Brake Visit Workshop on MFD on several different ocaisions. Display also lists 1 malfunction (Service Brake) but does not retain the malfunction overnight. It has appeared several times over the last 2 weeks.

Brought the car into the Dealer this morning (10 AM) & he said it probably needs a "stop switch". There are simply too many damn trips to the Service Department! No matter how nice the guys are to me & how well run the service department is, I'd rather be driving my Benz, than signing it in for another unscheduled repair.

...and can someone please tell MBUSA to re-translate "Visit Workshop" to a more techno phrase like "Visit Service Center". "Workshop" conjures up an image of Hans & Dieter with big leather aprons & huge white moustaches banging on, and tinkering with wooden puppets & Coo-Coo clocks. At least "Service Center" reinforces the idea that there are skilled technicians working on highly technical devices... Its like the difference between visiting a "Medical Center" and "Doc Johnson's Apothecary"... its the 21st Century, Boys! Language evolves.

"Visit Workshop" probably sounds a LOT more technical in German.

Visit Workshop = Besuch-Werkstatt
Visit Service Center = Besuch-Dienstzentrum

Maybe it wouldn't fit on the diaplay?

I hate that term workshop too. Sounds very un-car like.

Anyway, search for a post by me with the same subject. I had the same problem, but it only happened a few times. I seem to remember that they replaced a part later when I went in for service, and it did not come back.

I was in the dealership 2 weeks ago 4 times (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday) for the exact same thing you had.

I feel you. Im sick of going to them even if they give me a loaner everytime.

They replaced the "stop Switch". I think thats the brake lite switch... anyway it also might explain why the keyless go sometimes wouldn't work or the car stopped in mid crank, when using keyless go...as you have to have your foot on the brake pedal for it to work.

Any idea how hard it is to replace that switch? How much time did they charge MBUSA for the work?

I'm thinking I should pick one up at the dealer to carry with me. I sometimes get a long way from the nearest Mercedes dealership.

Rats!! You got me again

I've been out of town for a while. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

BTW, I asked my SA Robert Wolf at Phoenix Motors about the trunk lid Valet lock retrofit key and he said he never heard of it. He was going to check with parts to see what he could learn. He did say that if it costs 3.8 hours to install that he didn't think it was worth it. I guess he doesn't go to Vegas very often.
