I voted for the e5 w/o the sports package because i like the standard wheels better and they are a 1/2 inch bigger too. Yes I know the sports wheels are high performance. I also do not like the dark trim wood inside with the sports package. Finally, I like the front end better on the regular e5 than I do with the sport package (the apron is a little different)

i agree with you rayscar. i also do not like the black birdseye maple on the charcoal interior (which i will be getting). i also think that the front apron on the non-sport package is more sportier than the sports package version. but here is a question for you, i like the wheels on the sport version better than the non sport version. will the dealer swap the two if i was willing to pay the difference?

I like the E500 because: engine power and smoothness, larger wheels and cost differential not significant-especially if leasing. Once you have a V8, it is hard to go back. With the new suspension, it drives much like our new '03 SL500. Driving the E320 is fun, it is a great car. But it drives more like my '99 CLK 320 Cabrio.

I like the non-sport because: I like the standard E500 wheels better, I prefer the lighter wood trim with stone, my preferred interior, I like the E500 grill better.

I prefer the Sport package, for the looks and also for the fact that since its a fairly expensive option on the E320.....I think the Sport package will be primarily seen on E500s. So the look will be a tad more exclusive than the non-sport.

I'm going for the E320 without the sport package but I will be changing out the wheels and tires. The dealer can arrange for this and I'll get some credit for the unused ones that come with the car. don't know exactly how they do this but they have a full time person who primarily handles wheel and tire options.

If you are planning on holding on to the car beyond 4 years (doesn't sound like a lot on this board will) the mechanics have told me there will be a lot of things to break that will be VERY expensive to fix, particularly the airmatic suspension. Since I'm already trying to avoid too many speeding tickets I think the standard 320 will be fine for me. I'm getting multicontours, E5, panorama, CD changer, Harmon Kardon, 4-zone climate, metallic paint, leather and side window blinds. with the lux tax, that works out to $55,275. Those same options (some of which are obviously included) on the E500 bring that car to $61,687 or just about $7K more including tax, not worth it to me.

i agree E500 without sport..

the regular wheels look great too..and i also like the front of the non-sport more than the sport.

plus, its not AMG..why bother with it.

get yourself some AMG wheels, and a brabus kit
