It's not easy to install a xenon system into your car. Actually it's a real pain due to the way the H7 headlight bulb uses a bulb holder. The BMW X5 uses the same setup and I did a xenon install for a friend with an X5 and it took a while, as I had to hollow out the guts of the bulb holders as you can see in this picture. I do not recommend doing this, it's ghetto, but it does work.

To upgrade my E500 instead of having to deal with that BS again I just bought factory bi-xenons and had my dealer install them because you have to remove the bumper cover and reprogram the computer. A lot more expensive but it was worth every penny. Bixenons kick ***!

no doubt, I had to "adjust" the bulb holder. Removing the bumper and everthing, all by myself.. Took about 3 hours. Id do it again, the lighting was definitely worth it.

The new E550 only has HID w/ the biggest option bundle. What about OEM upgrade?

I was researching the E550 and see that HID lights are only available with the P2 options bundle and not standard as they should be in a car in this price range/market. What is hell is wrong with MB? Xenons an OPTION in a 60+K car? But, I digress.
Personally, I'd vastly prefer OEM bi-xenons and not aftermarket add ons. What will be available and for how much? Is this something MbenzNL will be offering? Can they be done elswhere?

I bought my bixenons from Harton Motorworks for about $1000 I seem to recall, and my dealer charged $500 to install them. It would have been cheaper but they spent some time trying to get my LED position lights to work without throwing codes.

Basically there is no way to tell they weren't factory installed unless you look up the VIN number or have the original window sticker.
