question about the gps screen and possibility of adding tv tuner

I know its not out yet but I was wondering if you electronic whiz's know of ne way to use a tv tuner with the nav screen?? Also since the nav is dvd based what would be involved in adding the ability to play movie dvd's on it. I asked the salesperson at the local dealer about that possibility and what he told me is his tech that does all the electronic work on the mb's at that dealer tried but failed to find a way to do it. He basically said it was impossible cuz mb made it that way for liability reasons. So is it a lost cause or do you guys think its possible??

DVD and/or TV with Command II

Yeah, I read that too (that Command II would play DVD's while vehicle parked), but it was by one of the reviwers for the car magazines. Don't recall if he actually had a prototype, but if he did it may well have been a feature that ends up getting designed out of the US Version. I find it odd that Mercedes would consider this a "liability issue" since they promote the in vehicle video option for their ML's that they sell here in the US in their accessory catologue for the ML.

Many months ago I asked customer service at Mercedes USA if a TV tuiner would be available in the US as an option with the new Command II and was told it was being considered and possibly would be offered at some time in the future.

I have found the information on this, at least as to the Comand APS to be used in the UK on the UK MB site. Here is the link to the thread where I posted the way to get to this information and what it says:

https://mbworld.org/forums/showthrea...438#post138438

If the system to be installed in the US is the same, a TV tuner is an option, but can't be used above 5 mph (until someone smart overcomes that limitation!!)

Not Command II

If I understand correctly Nav 2.0 is not Command II. I don't believe the provided link answers the question other than to suggest that if these people could get around the prior systems they probably can do the same for the new Command unless Mercedes and/or its supplier have outsmarted them. By the way, did you notice that the link adds that its TV tuner won't work unless you have access to the Mercedes Dealer's computers to activate same? What dealer will do that?
