Good deal for sure. See if you can get into a P2 packaged car for a little more.

That seems high to me. I just leased an 07 E350 (2wd) w/ P1, sport pkg, paint, ipod kit, and voice command with $0 down for 27 months, 10,000 miles for $475.

It is a raw deal. You should definitely be in the $500 range.

The cap cost is rolled into the monthly that's why it's $680. If they take cap cost out it's roughly $550 per month and $6000 out of pocket if I pay cap cost up front. I'm going to make a decision today. If I can pay low $500's with cap cost rolled in elsewhere, I'll kill the deal. Let me know soon. Much appreciated.

That doesn't sound very good to me, if you take $550 / month and then take your $6000 out of pocket and divide that into your 27 months your total monthly payment would be $772 / month. That's $300 more per month than I pay for the same car.

So you're paying $472 per month for your car with tax, fees, cap cost rolled into your monthly payment? That's a $250 lease per month lease. So I can tell the dealer that although the winter sales event is $599 per month, I only want to pay $250?

Correct, I paid $0 up front, just signed my name and walked out with the car for $475 with taxes, etc. The actual lease price is more like $359 (before tax), but I rolled the start up costs which were something like $1,200 into the lease since the money factor was basically 0%. I should mention this price is with a DCX discount.

How do I get the DCX discount Ok, For us normal folk (non dcx employees), how is the deal? too expensive still? If so, Should I be looking at $400 per month?

Ok. I guess i'm somewhat on target. I'm looking at $550 P1, metallic and sport package (i do know that sport is free) . Cap cost, tax and fees are extra which come up to around $5600 out of pocket. I'm gonna hold off. People getting $350 dollar leases is driving me nuts. I guess they are out there, i'll just keep looking.

One note of ...warning..? about fleetrates.com

Today I danced with one of their eager young turks, who seemed to think, for reasons passing understanding, that I was some young kid who had no idea what I was doing. I tried to explain that I was coming at this having financed all my past cars, and not leased before. He then asked what my age was (say what?).

After a thoroughly misguided tour through what he thought invoice pricing was for an E550, we got to the meat of the question - they had a good money factor, like 202 or so, but when I asked him to send me the terms and conditions so I could decide if we should take the next step, his response was well you'll get that after you join for $29.95.

Now I can understand him keeping to himself the name of his dealer in Jersey that he was thinking of hooking me up with, that's perfectly fair and rational.

But hiding the common business terms of their leases behind an entry fee is just plain silly. It's the business equivalent of asking a customer "open your mouth and close your eyes," and I found it to be fairly sleazy.

"Here, give us some money, and then we'll tell you what the terms of the deal are that you've just bought into."

What then got me to lean more toward thinking of this guy in sleaze terms was the snippy instant exit from the conversation when I pointed out that a) his computation of invoice wasn't accurate and didn't match an obvious source like Edmund's (his was about 3k higher), and b) I actually already had lined up the car for about $1,000 less than what he said he could do.

I was interested in continuing to explore their lease terms given the existence of a vehicle that I had already priced and built. But he wasn't having any of it.

After giving me a standard script about how dealers mark everything up, including interest rates and money factors to make up for anything they give away in the price of the car, etc (...cars 101...must stay awake...), he with almost no self-awareness proceeded to act as if his shtick was exactly the same: buy the car from my dealer contacts *and* buy the lease from me to get the rate.

After insisting that there's no way a dealer would sell me a car for that price without me also giving them the lease/finance (at an inflated dealer rate), he was sort of surprised when I pointed out that not only was I getting that price with my own financing/leasing arrangements, but the car had been built to my spec and I had the purchase order in hand for the entire length of the build cycle with that exact price.

And then he basically bailed on the call with a quick sudden 'thanks for the conversation - click".

A few minutes later I saw his number pop up again on callerID but let it go to voicemail. No message. If he thought better of how he handled it, I'll never know.

That's one experience with fleetrates.com. Good money factor, interesting price, but by overstating what 'invoice' is, they try to frame their purchase/lease price as 'much more under invoice' than it actually is.

Your mileage may vary.
