When was it ordered? It also means it more than built.. delivery in 2 weeks should mean its at an American Port of Entry already.

I wonder about the 2 week time frame, seems too quick to me. I can't see how it could reach Port of Baltimore so fast.

I first talked seriously with the dealer on Nov 4th. He had a vehicle on their production schedule that he said could be available to me for mid December. I went back in on Nov 11th, & made a change. On Monday the 13th he called me to confirm that he was indeed able to make the switch from Platinum Blue to Granite Gray.

I hope he's not blowing smoke. I sure would like to see it in 2 weeks, but don't really mind if it is a bit longer.

Have them put a red bow on it when you go pick it up!

Congrats to you. Great color choice. That is the greenish gray, correct? Hope to buy or order ours in the next few weeks if all goes right. She wants the granite grey over black leather. It'll be a 350 (can't quite stretch) with sport and P2 pkgs. Loaded minus wood wheel and pano roof. Hope it comes in on time. I waited 9 months for my XC90. What a waste. The mercedes will be worth the wait. Please post pics when you get it.

If you really want to obsess...given either the Netstar printout with the dealer's purchase order number on it *or* the VIN...

http://schedule.2wglobal.com/AppTracking/cargoTrack.do

with VIN select track by 'auto cargo'
with the purchase order track by 'reference number'

Once the car has been booked on a boat you should get a hit for one of those two numbers. After that, click on the voyage number and you can see the schedule and watch the ship come and go from port to port.

Talbot Dec 5, 2006 12:57 AM

My printout shows the VPC as Jacksonville, but I can't find a route at that shipper that actually goes to Jacksonville. Are there other shippers?
Also, mine was built as of 11/28, but it doesn't appear to have been booked yet.

unsure, the only carrier I know of that does this tracking is Wallenius-Wilhelmsen. I'd find it surprising that they had 2 different ones servicing the US, but you never know.

Also keep in mind that Augusta GA is on the east coast of the state, and not far from JAX, so Augusta might be the port of entry.

Well, well, Merry Christmas!

Oh, you know, that's a good point. Now I'm thinking Brunswick, GA may be the actual port. Thanks.

Talbot Dec 7, 2006 11:29 AM

I've been told now that mine is on the "Maersk Willow", due into port on 12/18. The Willow isn't listed in the Wallenius-Wilhelmsen fleet, and neither tracking method (VIN or PO) produces results there. Maybe they do use multiple carriers. (I took some VINs off of stock vehicles on some dealer websites and tracked them with no luck, too)

jposhea3 Dec 7, 2006 12:39 PM

yeah, maersk is a different shipping line...google maersk cargo tracking and see if you get anything

Re: Poe

I would venture that Baltimore is your POE. I don't recall whether MB uses Maersk or Wallenius there, but they have a HUGE operation and storage facility at Dundalk.

Congrats on the pending new ride, and let us know how you like it.

Hey David,

Have you gotten any updated delivery info? Your timeframe sure happened much faster than mind did.

Update of sorts

Well I just sold my 2003 X5 this afternoon to a private party. Very strange coincidence, the man who bought it drives an E500, I think around 2003. He said he bought one of the first E500's when they became available. His has been very reliable, only major repairs has been brakes around 75k miles. It was great talking with him, and now I am so anxious I can't stand it.:woowoo:

My salesman is tellin me "within a few days" of the 15th.

MB Fanatic Dec 9, 2006 04:40 PM

Hey thats great news. About that guy who has the E500, I think hes spot on. I dont get what all the fuss is about the E being unreliable. I am on the 3rd W211 and its reliable as a ****ing Honda or Toyota, if not more.

Post pics when you get it. :D

Nice to hear yours have been reliable as well. For a little while I was starting to get cold feet about these cars.
Now I have a HOT:X right foot in anticipation
