I can tell that you're excited. Is "it" the E550? Or maybe your firstborn child? In either case, congratulations.

Stoneseller Dec 28, 2006 11:33 AM

It is indeed. I just updated my profile.
I guess I should title the thread "She's here", sounds much more personable.
She is a 2007 E550, P2 package is the only option.

Counting the minutes:zoom:

Now now, calling a firstborn "it" just isn't right. :p:

Some parents-to-be take a pass on the sonogram because they want to be surprised ...

Well, I'm happy to say the delivery went fine, I'm now officially the proud new Papa of a screaming 382 HP girl, and she is a beaut. Have to say I was pretty nervous driving home in the dark down my deer infested back roads. The Xenons lit the road very well, glad I opted for the P2, but I'm still twitchy. Looking forward to some fine daylight driving tomorrow. :y

Pics tomorrow. Now for a cold one & relaxing with the owners manual a bit.

Congratulations! I got to drive an E550 on vacation this week and it was a fantastic car. I miss it.

Enjoy!

DWP: You got the first half of the city name right, but I'm on the east coast.

KB: My business is in Rockville, MD

I'm new to photo linking, so this may or may not work.

Moving on to my first newbie question. I want to remove the airbag stickers on the visor. One started to peel easy, but only the outer perimeter was coming clean. Any tips on technique & cleansers to get the residual glue off?

VM&P Naphtha (from the paint store. It also removes stains from the carpets/mats like a dry cleaning fluid.) Whenever you use it DAB, dont RUB, turning the cloth frequently to absorb the glur or stain. Do NOT get it on leather/plastic.

Hit the sticker with a hairdryer ( back and fourth motion ) to re-activate the glue and then peel it off.

Don't know about Mercedes, but I've used Goo Gone before with great success on BMWs and VWs/Audis. Not too harsh at all, but it may require a little more effort.

On my last two Porsches it looked much harder, so ended up just replacing the visors with leather ones (euro version with no stickers) since I prefer the feel and the leather ones are easily available. I actually bought one set and then transferred it to the new car.

By the way, that's a gorgeous car. What color is that? It's a bit hard to see in the light.
