My New E 500 - Tele Aid Defective
Ok, so finally last week I took delivery on my E 500....put about a hundred miles on it over the weekend and then when I start it yesterday the on board computer says that the Tele Aid/SOS is defective. I have an appointment with the dealer on Wednesday to get it checked out. Also, the car seems to be drifting to the right on the freeway, but the service advisor insists that I have at least 3,000 miles on the car before getting it aligned. Any suggestions!!!

I think another post mentioned the teleaid problem and it turned out to be a bad chip or a loose fuse or something like that. Nothing major. Someone else posted that flat spots on the tires were causing handling/ride problems. Hope this helps

Your car is beautiful. Interior looks simple awesome. I'm more thinking about replacing my W210. For some reason it has the same problems. It looks like they are common problems for Mercedes. So, I'm glad to hear that no new problems were introduced. I'm considering teleiad kind of useless and drifting to some side as a keeper out of asleep.

Yes, Curt Rich sold me the car. How did you know? Do you know him? Apparently he has been sellin MB's for over 20 years. He definetely knows his cars very well.

I read Curt's online newsletter every month. At one time he would stop by and post here, but due to some issues he does not any longer.
All in all, I like the way Curt thinks and love his newsletter.

My E500 gave me the same message this morning: Tele Aid malfunctioning. Car is in the shop as I write this. As far as the tires are concerned, mine also drifted to the right and had a vibration at around 60 mph. The service dept. at my local dealer found that all four tires (Continentals) had flat spots on them, and replaced all four tires under warranty, with Continentals again. Also, my dealer installed V60 phone acted up this morning by refusing to come on, and then by refusing to load the phone book- all this after I got the Tele Aid malfunction message. Will update this forum when I pick my car up.

I also think you need to wait on the alignment. The suspension parts still need to do any settling that is possible. After you get it done, it may not alleviate the problem completely. Many Mercedes models do this.
BTW, it's okay! You can take the paper "Auto Magic" mats from the service department away.

Many people have said the car goes right very slightly, you'd only notice it if you were looking for it. I have never noticed this, but I think it is because people are not driving on level ground. The reason I say many MBs do this is because so many people have reported it. After your alignment, you will be pleased.

Well, I have driven the car on many different surfaces, most of which I believe to be straight without any sort of crowns. Nevertheless, the dealer has the car right now, and I am holding off for 3,000 miles before I get it aligned per the service advisor.
I forgot to mention that the car also had a ticking sound, as if the engine were low on oil and the valves were ticking. The service advisor told me that this was not normal, and I'm very curious to find out what that problem is. I'll keep you guys posted as I find out more about it.
The Tele Aid problem is supposed to be some sort of software upgrade of some sort. Who knows if I'm being BSed
