How Long from "Build Date" to Delivery to the Buyer?

For the benefit of those of us who are waiting build and delivery, can some of you have taken delivery in different parts of the US and elsewhere share the timing between "build date" (which I understand to be the first day of build) and the date of dealer delivery to you? My dealer says it varies (in my case South Florida) based upon whether the car just makes it on a particular ship or might have to wait for the next. As a result, he indicates that it is between 30 and 45 days. What is your experience?

I usually buy cars off the lot, and I think I want a fairly standard E500 with E2, E3, cd changer and maybe NAV, otherwise light on the gadgets and gizmos. I would not be surprised if I could pick one out of their regular allocation, but if I do actually order one I will keep track of the timing.

I'd like to know if east coast delivery is faster too. Two months for delivery for So. Cal is a long time. Hope I don't have to wait that long! My dealer keeps telling me about a month for delivery in VA.

Hi, Ray.

I'm also in VA. I have my car on order with HBL. They also tell me 1 month from production to delivery. Is that who you are using?

I've subsequently heard bad things about HBL as a dealership and some folk recommended American Service Center. Not sure whether I believe what HBL tells me. They told me my production date was Aug 28 and then it suddenly became Sept 6th.

Hi Potxoli, yes I'm using HBL. Someone I work with has bought and serviced cars through them and were happy and HBL is very close to where I live. I have also heard good things about American too but they are farther away for me. I'll try HBL, I can always have the car serviced at American later even though I may not get priority with them since I didn't purchase the car there. So far in my short dealings with HBL, I'm been treated well and have had no issues. I think all dealer experience delays from time-to time caused by MB which is out of their control. HBL has always been careful to tell me dates are subject to change. So i believe they have not made promises that cannot be kept. I'll let you know if I see any major delays in getting my car. production is scheduled for 9/30 although I'm not in B3 status yet.

My inderstanding is that means no further changes can be made to the order because the car is about to go into production. If that is wrong I'm sure someone will correct me.

No, you are totally right, that is the meaning of B3.
