A win for the good guys...

On my way to work this morning... around 9AM.

Sitting at the light, almost zero traffic three lanes in either direction. A Silver Z4 pulls up next to me and revs the engine... eheheh. Now my car is not much in the way of performance. 2006 E350, 19" sneakers and rear spoiler lip make it look a little better, but nothing another performance car driver needs to be concerned with...

We get the green light and I jump immediately, and the BMW jumps a little slow. Second gear hit really hard on my car and I was like... WAHOOO...
He basically stayed about 1/2 car length back up to 60 mph. Next light we are both gettitng at the highway entrance... again... clear traffic. Light changes again but this time the Z4 gets a good jump with some tire spin. We are neck and neck laughing at each other (mostly because we are acting like children). At 90mph I am starting to pull away... at 120mph I am a car ahead... we see some cars up ahead and call it quits about 130mph... we both get out of it and he rolls up to my passenger side window and laughing as much as I am... We reach some light traffic in about 50 yards and then the fun is over. We are now on 85S going toward Atlanta and are now driving a whopping 35mph. I thought, today is going to be a good day.

So how quick are the BMW Z4s? It seems as though it was fast off the line but couldn't keep up at higher speeds. I wouldn't say I killed him... but did stay in front of him. And yes... it is possible he was not hammering it... It is not often anyone even wants play around with my grandmom car... so I will take it as it comes...

I agree with all the comments about to post about being a jackass racing on a public roads. And yes, we could have hit each other and yes I could have gotten a speeding ticket or worse... but come on... you know it is fun to do this on occassion....

Have a good day... I am!

It was fun... it cleared out all your veins and arteries... It put a big smile on your face. A smile so big it hurt your cheeks. We did it regularly from the age of 20 to 30. Where did that person go? I never saw him leave.

Okay... after some research I found the Z4 covers the 1/4 mile in 14.4, consider the E350 is coming in around 14.7... it was fair. hahah.

I thought the Z4 was much quicker. Also, thinking back to my days owning a 1988 Mustang GT... the 6cyl E350 is quite impressive. My Mustang was rated at 225 HP and 235 tq. with a V8. My 6cyl has more power and tq, but is also a few hundred pounds heavier. I think the Mustang was running somewhere near 14.3 1/4mile. After the supercharger and some other items it was much quicker... down the quarter and into the shop with broken parts...

There is nothing wrong with playing with your car when the roads are clear.

Drag racing on city streets at 130 mph is just not cool. I just hope when the time comes and he hits something at those speeds, it's a concrete barrier and not some innocent family out for a drive. KosherBenz, do you really want to share the roads in your area with Joe Blow driving at 130 mph? Drag racing at 130mph is the ultimate selfish endeavor!

Highways are different than surface streets. Not saying I condone this type of behavior, but if you're planning on breaking the law, make it safe.

Dude, get off your high horse! I am willing to bet money that you are one of those drivers that get in the left lane and stay there. Not that your are going any faster or passing others but...well, just because you can. That you tick off everyone else around you is just an added bonus.

Why don't you stick to your tri-cycle. That way you you don't get in the way when the grown-ups are out.

Where is it "safe" to drag race side by side, at a 130 mph, near any major city at 9:00 am on a Friday morning?

You could not be more wrong! And in fact, I have had my E350 up to 130 mph, but the difference is I did it on a desolate stretch of Nevada highway
when there was nobody to hurt but myself if something went wrong.
OK "Dude"

So your whining here is just an effort to everyone to dive safely?? I am sure that everyone is going to adjust their driving style because you said so. I know that I am going to jump on that one right away....not.

Why don't you keep this to yourself. If you don't agree with something just don't read the thread. Same thing on your TV; don't tune into the channel if you don't like the topic. -or are you one of those people that try to 'educate' everyone about how bad TV is just as your 'effort' to educate on someone’s driving style.

Gimme a break.....

A win for the good guys...

Hoop,

Man, get a life.

They had a little fun on empty roads and slowed down for traffic. No harm, no foul.

From the initial post, I'd say this E350 is a pretty good runner too!

I keep checking in to see if just one other person on this forum, will stand up and support my contention that drag racing on city streets at 130 mph, is a bad thing. Not only is there no support for a very reasonable point of view, but I am told to get a life, get off my high horse, quit whining and beat it.

I’m curious, how’s everybody feel about drunk driving here on MBWorld? I just want to make sure that I don’t rattle any cages, should I happen to speak out against it at some point.

Mercedes E350, E550s on it's way!
We are all very opinionated don't get us wrong, I think I speak for everyone when I say, don't take us for fools. Drunk driving is inexcusable.

On a serious note Hoop, the reason you received that response is we here at MB World.org have to many individuals who see fit to cut down just about every thread of a persons face-off experience. We all, if I can speak on behalf of us at this time, find this very tiresome and a constant annoyance. Yes, we all want your opinion, but, make it in proper manner, using remarks, though censored i.e. ******* isn't going to get you very far on these forums.

I for one understand these amazing works of automobile ingenuity were meant for nothing less but per performance, and yes the occasional drag race down the street is a bad idea, but you know what? I paid 60 thousand dollars for my automobile, and I'm getting every freaking pennies worth.

I agree with the above poster. Now drunk driving is a completely different issue,I doubt strongly that any member would fight you on that, but please think of it in this manner: The same way guys go for the adrenaline rush at NASCAR is the same way guys here race for what ever ego they might posess. These people are nothing but men,in both cases, loving the thrill of competition,it may not be legal or moral ,but definitely human.... Deflating a man's ego is looking for exactly what you received: resistance
