2007 E350 4matic
Stopped by the local MB dealer

I saw they had a W204 C300 sport on the lot so I went to check it out. Nice little car but I don't know if I like it.

I then walked around to see if they had any 2008 E's. They had one E350 and one E550. Both not really optioned out. I did notice that the fuel economy dropped for the E350. The 08's get 17 city/24 highway compared to the 07's which got 19 city/ 26 highway. Anyone know why this is? My 4matic is rated at 18 city/24 highway yet I have gotten it up to 26-27 mpg on the highway.

Another thing I noticed was that they had a silver 07 E350 with the 321 AMG sport package. Nice looking car, I might have to get that front bumper for my car. It looks like the 07 AMG sport package didn't come with the sport steering wheel with paddle shifters as part of the package. The MY2008 321 AMG package comes with the sport steering wheel as specified on the mb website.

Just wanted to share what I saw at the local dealer.

The mileage has gone down because of the new way EPA formula, not that the engine would have changed worse.

On the W204, did you see a "non-Sport", what ever it is called in the US. Looks more like a traditional sedan while the Avantgarde or US sport is supposed to be more sporty, obviously.

New formula is more true too life of the normal driver, not the hyped up numbers of the companies.

Since you quoted my comment, I want to clarify that I did not take any position on which one is more realistic. I just said the engine is the same and consumes the same as before.

Now that you mention this, I have seen comments elsewhere that the figures for MBs start to be on the pessimistic side. Not sure which car the comment was for or was it for MB generally. But again, I have not paid attention to EPA figures before or after the change and don't have any position for those.
