"Brake Wear" message at 15K miles!!??
I just hit 15K miles on my 2006 E350, and the "brake wear - visit workshop" message is coming on. I do not drive that hard or aggressively, and I'm shocked to see this message this early. I have an appointment with Park Place Dallas on Monday morning, but I'm wondering what I might expect. First off, my brakes have squealed terribly since the car was new. Though I pleaded with them on three separate occassions, they insisted this was acceptable and not a sign of brake issue/failure. Now to see that I'm needing new pads or rotors at 15K is quite a disappointment. Is there a chance that the "brake wear" message is incorrect? How much pad do I have remaining once the message shows up? I'm afraid this is going to cost me a small fortune!

I'm not sure how long you are use to going between brake service, but 15k sound about right to me. I'm use to changing my pads once a year or about 12K miles.

I agreed with bigmel, my previous ML500 went thru the pads and rotors (both front and rear) at 38k km which is around 22k km (everything under warranty) they replace them all.
So 12k to 15k for a set of pads seems normal unless you do mainly highway then you might get a little more miles before you need to replace them.

Just do a oil change and pad change.
The pads wear out FAST on this car. Really soft would be my guess.
I have 60,000 miles and have been through 1 set of pads F/R and R Rotors and now I need new Front pads and rotors.
So in 60,000 miles Rotors F/R and 2 sets of pads is about right.
Pads at the dealer can run from $450 to 600 for front and rear w/o rotors.
Pads you install are around $80.00

Sorry for being little off topic but in Canada MB provides warranty on wear and tear items such as brakes (pads and rotors), wiper blade (insert only) for upto 40k KM or 24 months whichever occurs first but then we don't have the service program like what you guys have in the States and we have to pay for every oil change and routine service.

Thats about normal. My CL is about every 18K. Or every other service.
One set of rotors for every 2 sets of front pads.
Just did the SL 2nd set of pads at 35K and rotors will be next time.
So the SL AMG rotors are holding up longer at least.
Part of owning a Benz. Tires and Brakes are consumables.
Pads like $ 200.00. Labor $ 180.00. That was the CL
My SL55 was a bit more.
The light is less than 10% If I remember. Or at the indicator.

23,000 on the clock, and pads and rotors still look like new. What in the world are you guys doing to your cars to get pad life of half that???
