Can anyone tell me....
what the date in the upper right hand corner of a Netstar invoice signifies? My salesperson said it was the date a serial number was assigned and MB began building the car. Assuming 6-8 weeks to build and ship to the western US the car with an invoice date of 1/29/07 arrived at the dealer the end of March '07. If that's the case I pointed out that the E550 4MATIC I test drove in late June would not even have been in the country yet as it had an invoice date of 6/13/07. He just shrugged. By way of background my car was found through a dealer locate in the PACNW. It was one of 3-4 available and one of only two that had the P2 package and wasn't white or black. I bought the car on July 17th to take advantage of the $5000 in dealer cash, drove it for 2 days and promptly left for a month long vacation. The car is at the dealers getting a scrape to the rear bumper repaired, being throughly detailed and having a wood steering wheel installed. I suspect that the vehicle has been in inventory for several months because of the condition the car was in when it was delivered to me; tree sap on the roof and hood,some sort of film on the windshield and rear window, the damaged bumper,etc. These are minor issues but I really don't like being misled.
I would have bought the car I test drove in June but there was no trunk money then. As soon as I found out about the $5000 in dealer cash I called my sales guy and he claimed he'd not heard of it. In the meantime he sold the car I test drove about July 10th, hence my need to do a locate.
