Smart Key Question

Just picked up my 2003 E320. My ML 320 only has a 'dumb' key so some of this is new to me.

My questions:
-When I go through the menus to customize the car and electronics it asks it I want to make things 'smart key dependent'. I'm now assuming that means that each of the 2 keys I have would have their own (up to 3) settings for seat memory and preferences as to lighting, automatic door locking etc. So, this would be a way to store up to 6 seat memory positions in one car - not sure why that is useful, who has so many drivers for one vehicle?

It would be great if the car adjusted the seat and mirrors to my setting when my key was inserted and did the same for my wife. IS THIS POSSIBLE? It seems we each have to press the appropriate memory button for our setting once we get in the car. There is this auto seat and steering wheel adjust feature (for easy in and easy out) that MAY solve this but it may be a little dangerous with small kids in the back for the seat to automatically go back so far everytime I take the key out.

-Second question is that I recall the Smart Key being advertised as able to remember individual radio and A/C preferences and settings. How does that work? Does it just go back to the setting last used when that key was in the car?

Thanks for any help and insight.

I also posted this in the general section but figured any new E owners would have the latest on this.

The Smart key sets ceratin perferences based on the individual key. these include seating position and steering wheel position and I believe most other personal fuctions including easy in / out, locking preferences but I am not sure about the radio presets. These settings occur when you unlock the doors (so the seat is in your position when you get in) not when you insert the key.

It all works well, unless you grab the wrong keys!

Thanks Skymast. So you are saying that if I set my preferences to 'key dependent' and I use my key to remotely unlock the car, it will automatically adjust the seat and mirrors to my preferences and do a similar thing when my wife uses her key? That would be great - I'm going to have to go play with it and see.
