Winter Tire Tests
I found the attached November 2006 winter tire test form Sport Auto of Germany that compared 7 high-performance tires in a 235/40/18 size that actually more closely reflects what we have on our cars than most other published tests that I have seen.
For those that just want the executive summary, the top four were:
1. Pirelli SnowSport 240
2. Dunlop SP WinterSport 3D
3. Continental WinterContact TS 810S
4. Goodyear Eagle Ultra Grip
The best SNOW performance was turned in by the Goodyear (followed in order by the Pirelli and Dunlop), but the WET (and DRY) performance was SO bad that it dropped the Goodyear to 4th place.
It's a good objective test, and sold me on the Pirelli's!
Now I need some non-staggered OEM MB or AMG 18" rims. Anyone looking to sell their's please PM me!
They're still far, far better than any all-seasons on snow and ice.
Can anyone translate the row labels in the scoring table?
