Faulty Gas Guage??!! $%*$&##
Anyone run into a faulty/bad gas guage on the 03 E500? Seems to be working fine after I filled it up. Will take it to the dealer Tuesday. Can't find any recalls or anything like that on this forum. Anyone seen this?

The dealer changed sensors ,reset things and she still sold the car with the same problem.
Mine only happened once and i didn't even bother with the dealer at the time..(I was told they can not recreat the event so ,there isn't much to fix)
I went through a few sites and talked to some professionals who deal with this kind of problems ,basicly the problem is in the IC (EEPROM chip) has to be reprogrammed. The dealer doesn't believe in this (atleast mine) but they still can't fix the problem.
just reading Barry's respons..i had the rear SAM reprogrammed on the C320 also without any luck.

Currently the Corvette folks add Techron by Mobile to help clean the sensor in the tank. I add Techron every 6 months. Mercedes does approve Techron for the fuel additive but no other additive.
You might try adding Techron as indicated on the label for system cleanout.
Check it out it might wrok for you. Jim
