2005 E500 AMG Package Pewter
Just bought my first Mercedes E Class

Just wanted to stop by and say hi as I am sure this board will be a good resource for information on my new E 500.

I just bought a 2005 E500 with the AMG package, some other options are dynamic seats, nav, sport package, moonroof, Harmon Kardon, airconditoned seats. This is my first MB and I absolutly love it. I bought it in Santa Ana California and drove it home to Kennewick Washington Thursday. It is very hard to find nicley equipped MB where I live thus the trip to So Cal. I made the trip in 15 hours (1106 miles) and the car performed fantanstic. Here are a couple pics of the new car

I didn't think MB put the AMG badge on cars with the AMG Appearance package. Maybe the previous owner did some eBay badging?

Nevertheless, nice ride. Enjoy it.

Nice ride. Don't care for the AMG badge.

Car looks to be in great condition.

Yup, I would take that AMG badge off. Other than that -- a wonderful car!

Well since I am new to all this can you explain to me what is wrong with this AMG badge? It is my understanding that this car has what is called the AMG package, asides from the emblem on the trunk it also says AMG on the wheels and tailpipe tips. What is wrong with it?

would the amg package have any effect on the engine. on other words if i were to take my 2003 e500 stock and line it up with a 2003 e500 AMG would it be the same thing (saying that driver would be the same person). or is it just for the looks.

There is nothing wrong with the actual badge but this is not an AMG car after all. What you have in a so-called AMG body kit, AMG wheels and possible AMG exhaust tips. A genuine AMG car would have it's own AMG-specific engine (would be 5.5 liters in 2004), sport suspension, oversized Bremo brake system and many other AMG only elements. Bottom line, this is not an AMG car and people who know the difference would be able to spot it right away. However, 99% of the overall population have no idea of what AMG stands for so you maybe fine even if you keep the badge on.

It does look like it was added since it's not lined up properly. Factory placed badges line up closer to the edge of the trunk. I also thought that that AMG Sport Package also included the AMG grille.

Well, to be perfectly open here -- there is no assurance that the body kit and wheels are in-fact AMG-made. Could be an after market replica for all we know.

I can’t help but feel disgusted by the nasty comments on this thread. Surfnorthwest is a new member who just purchased his first Mercedes-Benz and rather than sharing in his pride and obvious joy, you guys are nit picking his car to death!

Who gives a damn if the car has AMG trim, genuine package, or eBay badges. Our only concern as members of this community should be to support and share information with each other.

I think everyone who has critiqued our fellow new forum member’s beautiful car owes him an apology.

Surfnorthwest, CONGRATULATIONS AGAIN! I just got my first Mercedes a few weeks ago and I know how you feel. There’s nothing like that three-pointed star on the hood... Enjoy your new ride! :-D

Welcome to the forum, and nice purchase

just ignore the comments about the ///AMG badges just a head's up, they aren't liked if you have it on a non-AMG car

Re: 1st Benz

Congrats on the new ride. My 1st Benz was also a 2005 E500, it was a great car; that 5 liter V8 puts out gobs of torque, watch out for the gendarmes.

I have seen three 2005 E500 cars equipped as yours, the AMG look is pretty rare. There was a CPO in the same color as yours with the AMG appearance package at my local dealer in North Carolina a couple of weeks ago, it sold quickly. Your AMG package is factory, but the AMG badge on the trunk was added by the previous owner.

Again, congrats on the new ride, enjoy it.
