No mystery here........the wood and leather steering wheel. It looks great. Ours was ordered with it and came without. Now, I await its availability as an accessory.

Thanks for the pic.

Does the wood portion of the steering wheel become marred by one's ring(s) (e.g. wedding ring) over time?

jwc Nov 8, 2002 12:15 PM

Beats me if a wedding ring would mar the wood. I say just leave the ring off or don't get one at all...hahahaa

My dealer did tell me that rings do scratch the wood wheel over time.

Wedding ring optional !!! Thanks JWC, I'll mention this idea to the wife whom, I'm guessing, will not be at all suspicious and fully understanding of the need to avoid damaging the wood wheel...wink!

Seems perfectly reasonable to me! :D

To those who didn't feel/see the wood wheel - in the back of the wheel its not smooth, there are places for your fingers to slip - just superb! when i held it firmly, my ring did hit the wood though and I think it would do some damage over time too.. Did I mentioned black birdeye maple looks like graphite marble and its freaking superb :D

wow, that does look pretty good!

I don't have a problem with the ring on our '03 SL500 which has the wood steering wheel. It is very comfortable and NOT IN THE WAY OF ANYTHING!!!!!

Crazy4Cars, What is the Model?

Crazy4Cars: what model is shown in your pic? A CLK? Also, was the wood wheel the only item you think Ray and I are missing?

Jeff

Crazy4Cars Nov 9, 2002 10:39 AM

JHB, yes that is a CLK 2003, and I think that the wheel is the only item you guys are missing.
