Is there a how to for changing out brake lights?

Also need bulb replacement help
I've got an 03 E500 with a burnt out reverse light bulb. When I took apart the trunk liner to get a better look it appeared that I needed to take out the whole external brake light assembly. I only need to change 1 bulb, is this correct? I found several bolts that I could access and got the whole assembly loose but not out. After further feeling around blindly behind a large round ball looking thing I found another bolt. It was hidden so I couldn't see and was never able to blindly get a tool on it to loosen the bolt. Seems like changing a bulb should be much easier than what I was going through. Any pointers would be much appreciated.

Remove the trunk liner first
If you remove the plastic trim along the back of the trunk, and then the side trunk liner you will be able to see what your are doing. It's a big job for just one bulb. You should have the new bulb unit on hand before you start the project. I would estimate that the bulb unit assembly is about $45.
