Taking a Poll on Grilles

Ok folks, here's the deal

I recenting acquired this '05 E500 Sport as a CPO car. Upon delivery, found the grill to be cracked and the dealer happily agreed to replace it. So I figured I'd get them to put on a new CL style grill (see the attached pic). But after becoming familiar with the forum here and seeing so many pics of your nice cars... I may be having a little remorse (about the grille of course). So we're voting for (and go easy on me people!):

1) Vote for replacing the grill with the original style in crome.

2) Like the new CL style grill, but shoulda used a silver one.

3) Like it the way it is - it's good to be different!

4) Other (you suggest).

Once again keep the comments to a humorus and or constructive nature ...

Im actually trying to decide on whether or not to replace my grille. Thanks for posting a pic of what the CLS grille looks like on the W211. Im not a big fan of not having a border around the grill--I kind of like the way the stock grille have that thick border around it.

I think I'll keep the stock grille as is and just replace my hood emblem.

At first, I wasn't too crazy about it. But, after I re-read your post and realized that the dealer did it gratis...I like it alot! If you have the opportunity, get the cracked one back for your car's next owner, so he has the option to chg or not.

I was contemplating to mod my car grill with a CL style but after researching through the web on what will it be like, I was discourage the way it will turn out to be. I decided to leave the stock grill as it is also... more classy look.

I really like the CL grille, but it does look much better on a MB with the AMG package.

Your grill is called "sport grill" because it has border around the grill.

CL grill is more like this "boderless". (Like kalaikanui has in its car)

Bekkers sells this so called "sport grill" in their site.

To be honest with you, I like the way it look in your car.

Thanks for the info guys... very interesting. This grill change was an impusle thing at the point of sale before I learned about this forum. Now that you guys are educating me... I'm even more concerned that I may have screwed up. The good news is that the dealer did provide the original one in the box that the aftermarket one came in - so I can change it.

Are you going to change up your front bumper in the future? I think the CL grille looks good on the AMG bumper or an aftermarket bumper, but I like the stock grille with your current bumper. Either grille not too bad bad tho.

I don't like it. So many circles up front you don't really need another a huge one.

I just thought the plain with the hood star looked to luxury for my sport taste. Thats whats so great about mods, you can make the car the way you want it.

Mr.Benz,I too like the way yours looks. I guess because your car has uniformity in the rims, overall color of the car,and grill it has. Great job, good luck with it....

personally, i like the grille in the very 1st post... its the one i got too (after much deliberation and self reflection)

i think its very classy, and IMO it makes the car look like a CLK (a 4 door one ) very clean, very chic, very oem.

to be honest, some of the other "CL style grilles" reming me of the old tacky 126's that had those on em... a little to hood for me.

(any comments expressed here are intended for entertainment purposes only, and are not intended to annoy or offend those who are pissed they have wasted $$$ on inferior grilles.... lol sike... to each their own)

I voted too quick. Read the title and thought I was voting in favor of the stock grill. Anyway, looked at the your pic and looks pretty good.

I have a burgandy color W211 do you think a body color grill w/o chrome would look better or should I get the silver or black /w chrome?

You'd have to have the grill painted to get one to match the body color. Then the question is do you plan to have all of the other related trim painted as well? Hum, I'd say to go with one that best matches the trim scheme of your car.

I photoshopped this from your grill. What do you think? I think I need to match the grill with my body color.
