Even though I do not think the COMAND update CD will do anything in your head unit, I would discourage attempting to use it as is it was not designed for your COMAND. Your COMAND was not manufactured by Becker (W220 is Siemens I think) so it will not work, and could possibly (although a remote chance) damage it.

Having not received my order from Mercedes Parts Superstore, I found that my order was cancelled and was given this reason (though an email was never sent to my email address I had to go to the web page to find out)

You are the second person I now of that reported this from MB Superstore of which part fulfillment processes through participating MB dealerships. Many have simply purchased from their local dealer’s part counter anyway try MB Anaheim http://www.calibermotors.com/site_parts.cfm

is w211 589 14 22 00 the part # for the upgrade disc, because when i call the parts dept at mercedes they say the have never heard of it and cant find it, if it is not does anyone have the part # thanks

Part #211589142200 is correct, check your PM.

He is correct. You also can ask for W211 589 15 22 00 but 14 22 00 should be on their parts department computer. I asked my dealer for the cost about a week ago and was quoted $22 for the 15 22 00 which I turned down. Could not justify the cost increase since the 14 22 00 cost me $12 in Jan 2007. If your dealer is still confused, PM me and we will work out a cost to send a copy.

Could this be also a problem in my MB 2004 E220 CDI? That the software NAVIGATION is to old?
When I insert my navigation DVD it says on display: DVD ERROR

Could be a bad DVD disk. Have you tried cleaning the disk? What version of the DVD do you have? How long has this problem been around? If the disk is new then the DVD drive is not reading the new disk and needs the update. In any case if you haven't run the update DVD 211 589 14 22 00 it would not be a bad idea. It is easy to do and is done in the COMAND not at the DVD drive. This update gives you ETA which was not there before and fixes some minor problems. It also takes away the ability to use the hidden features mode.

I don't think that the problem is a bad DVD disc, because I have tried several of copies of the navigation.... I don't have a COMMAND in my car trunk. I tried to update my MB navi software but again DVD ERROR. Some pictures...

I’m slightly confused. I have a 2005 E CDI and in the trunk on the left panel is a DVD drive that receives the NAV DVD disk. The COMAND unit are the pictures you sent and is the same as the unit I have except my unit does not say DVD video only compact digital audio.
In any case the DVD update disk goes into the COMAND slot and it updates the COMAND unit. The COMAND unit processes the maps from the NAV DVD that is in the trunk drive and GPS info then shows the results on the COMAND screen. Did the navigation ever work? Where are you inserting the NAV disk? Trunk or COMAND. It sounds like you might be putting the NAV DVD into the COMAND and the error is because the DVD does not contain video or music therefore the error.

I dont have any unit in the trunk, my radio is AUDIO APS50, Mercedes Benz 2004 211... I put the DVD in the COMAND unit, and it shows this message... I don't know if the navi worked or not because i bought the car few weeks ago.

then, it means you don't have navigation system.
the in-dash of your COMAND only reads audio and mp3 discs...

I did not read everything here but the map DVD can only go to the trunk navi processor. If the car does not have one, then you cannot put it anywhere (for good).

There are two update CDs, one for the head unit and another one for the navi processor. The head unit service CDs are region dependent if I remember right.

Hi... I have a 2006 MB E220CDI vith NTG1. After inserting the DVD the unit displayed the progress-bar for updating.. but after about 1/3 into the update the unit restarted and it doesn't seem to have been updated. I still can't receive TMC signals.

Any ideas?

Does anyone know if any of these updates give you text to speech for street names? I get the tts on highway/freeway names but nothing on streets. Would be a nice feature as every modern gps unit does this for you now.

I have the latest updates from the dealer as mine shows the eta on the bottom of the comand screen.

No - these devices were developed in the 2002-2003 range and will not offer such technology.

They all have prerecorded sound bites that are assembled to speak the name of the highways and do not have text to speech processing.
