wood grain plastic craking

My 2005 CDI has interior cracks in two locations the wood grain around the shfter bezel and one the drivers side door trim near the pull. My dealer said since I am at 51k he can do nothing under warranty. The crack actually happend at about 40K but I waited to a service interval to report, bad idea in hind sight. Anyone have ideas on how to go about getting MB to pay for this? A $59k car should not have this type of issue.

Thanks
Steve

Believe me, MB is very proud of that wood grain. I had one of the tiny clamshell triangle shaped pieces replaced, the ones that are used to open the clamshell, and it was $165 installed. I can't imagine what larger pieces like the ones you describe would cost.

MB claims the "leftover " pieces from manufacturing are numbered and kept ,so they can match the exact grain if it needed.

Try another SA or the Service Manager. You could also take it to another dealer and tell them how horrible your current dealer is and you want to start using them for service. Great time for them to be the hero, and who doesn't like being the hero. Be friendly :)

on my 2003 the wood grain also cracked 4-o-clock location at shifter. It was replaced under MB warranty. I recall the price for the part was ~ $165

It was a very small stress crack...

Or have a friend with the same vehicle but still under warranty goes into the dealer. Glad I haves a great SA which catering to all my need. I got my pieces changed under warranty. Now the car is in for 39xxx service, and I have asked him to change more stuff on it under warranty. Good dealer IMO.

Mine cracked over the power point under the radio. It was warranty replaced. This is a possibility with real wood being used and curving to fit the shapes. We are now more careful about dropping the cell phone on the consol. However I would expect a good will warranty to help out here. If not you will have to $$ up the stuff.

cracking

Mine cracked at about the 4-5 o-clock position on the shifter bezel. I deal with Motor Werks in Barrington IL. Not the best dealer when it come to this kind of stuff. Does anyone have a MB corp address I could write to?
Thanks
Steve

Ask the dealer service advisor and or service manager to have a meeting with the factory DSM as he visits the dealer at least once a month...tell him the problem and ask for GOODWILL re the defective wood panel
