What's your opinion on these wheels?
 

I think I'm going to pull the trigger on one of these 19" sets for my black 06 E350 4Matic.

I'm leaning towards the chrome because I think the black would look better if I planned to tint the windows. THey currently have the slight blue tinge and I think the chrome would play to that better. I would love to hear thoughts on these wheels.

Also, what size tires would I need to get to have a proper fit on my car? I'm pretty sure the manual said I have a 38mm offset(not really sure what that means, even after reading the definition and looking at the pics). I don't think my car has any mods on it at all(pre-owned). ARe there any potential issues with going with 19" wheels? I see quite a few people with 20", so I figured that 19 would be safe.

Edit: I also have the Airmatic Sport package...not sure if that matters at all.

I didn't put this in the tires section becasue I wasn't sure how that worked since it is sponsored by TireRack and I wouldn't be getting the wheels from them.:confused:

On a black car, I think both the chrome and the black look great. I have a light colored car and would probably go chrome instead of black in my case.

Someone else more knowledgeable can weigh in, but for tires I think you would need 245/35-19 in the front to keep the rolling diameter the same as stock. Otherwise, your speedometer will be off. The largest tire size for the rear is 275/30-19 if you're doing a staggered setup. However, if you're getting four identical rims, then you'd go with 245/35-19 all the way around.

Thanks for the input. I have 4Matic and from what I've read here I want to go with the same on all 4 tires. I just want to make sure there are no other issues that I should be aware of.

Since you're asking for opinions....

I'm of the mindset that you shouldn't put cheap, low quality knockoffs, on an upscale car.

Not sure where you live, but hopefully there's no potholes.

And no matter what wheels you get, you're not gonna want to run a staggered setup on a 4matic car. You'll need to keep all four the same.

THanks for your response. I guess that's one of the things that I was asking with my post in Tires section. How is "quality" determined for rims? Are you saying that other rims will be more resistant to pot holes? THese are the things I want to know, are they all basically the same and it's just a matter of brand name or is there a definite difference.

All wheels are definitely not all the same, not even close. Ever wonder why those wheels cost 700.00 a set while a set of HRE's in the same size are 6000.00?

Basically, those wheels are 1 piece cast. Most likely made with sub par materials in China or Bangladesh or something to that affect. While most 3 piece forged wheels can be found using high grade materials, such as T6061 aluminum. Forged wheels are more likely to bend whilst cheap 1 piece cast wheels are more likely to crack. Don't know about you, but I'd hate for my wheel to crack on a 100+ mph run. I'm not saying that all 1 piece wheels are junk, that's not true either. But I would definitely steer clear of 1 piece wheels made with low quality materials.

There is one vendor on the site that I can recommend. I purchased some wheels from him in the past, and have referred numerous people to him.

That's almost impossible to answer because the range is huge. This won't help but you can pick up a set of 19's from them anywhere between 900.00 - 6000.00, I'm guessing.
