New LED Tail Lights
Got these new tail lights. What I like about them it that they're led's on top and bottom, brake lights and running lamps. Wish the turn signals were led's as well but it uses a 7507 bulb and was wondering if I switched it out with an led bulb, would I get a error message on the control panel?
I also switched out the honeycomb grille on the bottom bumper.

Not feeling it man. Looks too "ricey". The stick on fake exhaust tips don't do anything for the car, and the rear taillights dont look as good as the 2007 model LED lights. Also the front grill in the bumper is a bit overdone.
Looks very overstated. But to each his own.

Looks good. I was thinking of getting the same tail lights, but my car is pewter. I'm guessing that I would have to paint the middle strips to match the body color for it to look right. I do have black faced rims though, so maybe it would still be okay . . .

I know some will think it looks too ricey but they actually look really good in person. Pics do not tell the whole story. I too, was concerned about the rice look but it really gives the car an updated look, keeping pace with Lexus, Infinity and BMW, not to mention the newer look of S-class tail lights. When I told a friend I had changed out the tail lights, he was very skeptical and mentioned the rice thing but when he came over, he was impressed that they did not give that rice look. I know there are the MB traditionalist who want only MB OEM parts and they should keep what they have but I just prefer the cleaner modern look of LED's. When removing the old tail lights, they didn't seem any more superior than these ones.
I do like the mods I've made with the exception of the exhaust tips. One of these days I'll fork out the big bucks and get real ones. I've removed them, but then the car looks like Gramp's car so I just put them back on. I could not handle the old fashion look of the honeycomb bottom grille and do very much so prefer the billet grille I have now. But as mentioned before, to each his own or else we'd all be driving the same exact vehicle.
These tail lights do work with the fog lights as well.
Signals. I'm gonna try using an LED bulb hoping not to get an error message but if not, then I will install a chrome bulb to rid the yolk look.

Thanks for posting this thread.
I was interested to see how these new lights look - outside of an auction advertisement.
Later,
Tom

Looks very nice. As you said, it looks updated.
I am very impressed by your mods.
I was thinking about getting a roof and trunk spoiler. How do you like the roof spoiler?
Also, i think if you get an AMG rear bumper then you will not have to waste money on actual AMG exhausts.

+1 for the effort but I'm not really feeling it. Looks a bit tacky to me. I never liked when baby Benzes try and look like the model above it, just kind of looks cheap IMO.
Also, I don't see them as too updated looking, considering the W221 will have a new taillight design next year. I personally always go with what I think looks best, not what's newest, as new becomes old quickly.
Although I can care less about the L.E.D craze, I like the L.E.D look on your new tails. I think if you do a little smoking here and there they make look better IMO.

I obviously liked the tail lights as well Changed mine several months ago.
I also think they look updated and much better than the 07-08 lights (actually think the 03-06 tail lights are nicer).
First time (after installing them) that I took the car in for service at MB of Chicago, at least half the Service Advisors surrounded my E500 asking where I got them and saying how much they liked them. Then again, it's all a matter of taste and what you like (for example, I'm not into smoking any lights).
We're all MB Fanatics (that's why we're on this website), and the beauty of it is we can make our Benz our own (or keep it ALL OEM as some folks like). That's why I've learned to never post asking other people's opinion, there will ALWAYS be someone that doesn't like what you've done. Some people even get a bit rude and insulting while letting you know what they think , as if someone had named them the ultimate arbiters of taste.
Funny how ALL car manufacturers seem to once in a while incorporate into their vehicles design elements that were previously "After Market". It's one of the ways they keep cars looking "fresh" (by being aware of what's out there).
With that said, ENJOY your car and make all the changes you like. That's really all that matters
