I think your problem is the motor mounts. IIRC, it's a common problem with the earlier W211's
How's the weather in Guatemala? Apparently, rainy.

I'm having a bit of a hard time buying into the notion that a failed engine mount will cause the engine to shake more at idle. Seems to me that if the engine were running correctly at idle (fuel pressure, clean injectors, ignition system, no vacuum leaks, sensors within tollerance, etc) the engine would idle smoothly, even if sitting on solid mounts.

They were replaced under warranty because of a rough idling problem. There's a DTB out for this, I believe.
