Upgrade or Brabus wheels?

Question popped up on Christmas eve.

I saw a nice, new E320 parked at a restaurant. Then I noticed it had Brabus wheels on it.

Knowing these things run in the 3-5K range for a set, and knowing it was a brand new E, so the dealer's mark-up was part of the Brabus wheels cost.

So the question begs, which do you all think is the better move? Put Brabus wheels on your E320, or for a similar amount of money, buy an E500 instead of the the E320?

EDJ, am I correct in assuming you are asking the question in terms of what choice I would make as an owner of an E-320: 1) put Brabus wheels or 2) upgrade to an E500?

If such is the case, it will depend whether or not the E320 is equivalently optioned/specd like an E500 (incl. airmatic, etc.) and what the additional cost of the upgrade will be?

If both cars have the same options (except the engine), I would probably just put the Brabus wheels on the E320.

However, if the opportunity to upgrade means going to a better equipped E500 for around 5K+, I would opt to upgrade to an E500 sports package! No question about it.

if your comparing an e320 with 19's and an e500 with the stock 17's i would go for the 500, in our family that question never came up, but its a good one. i wouldnt buy brabus rims for my benz, just because they are to expensive, i would buy a cheaper kind, unless you dont buy it from the dealer, there are multiple shops that sell brabus rims

While the rims are nice, I wouln't even consider the rims over an E500. You could always add rims at some point in the future. Take the car!
