Question Does the Euro COMAND play dual layer DVDs?

Does anybody know if the Euro-spec COMAND can play dual layer DVDs? What about DVD+R and DVD+RW? Thanks

So far I've tried DVD-RW and DVD-R and they work

Yes. Dual-Layer is part of the DVD specification. All DVD players play Dual-Layer media.

For burnt DL DVDs you have to have high quality media and a good drive to burn though, some poor DL data DVDs are not recognised even by my laptop DVD drive (although the MB drive might be better than my laptop, not sure).

Not even "printed" DVDs, original DVDs from a shop? Was it for music or a video?

I have had no issue playing Dual Layer media with Sony DVD+R DL disc. I would always recommend burning media at the slowest speed and also turning on verification. The speed-war that the drive manufacturers seemed to have engaged in sometimes results in unreliable writes to media.

thanks for the input guys. that's good news to me. however, the bad news is that there's no such thing as DVD-RW DL media

MP3 music burned with Nero at slow speed, Verbatim DL DVD. Granted, I only tried a few times and didn't pursue further. DL-DVDs are too expensive to be coasters. Just stating my experience.

Owners' real experience is important. Verbatim are about the best media I've been using. My W221 does play some that are not as good as Verbatim and I use Nero too. Sounds like there is at least a difference between the two DVD drives. Would be nice to know how it plays a genuine DVD movie.

Later model W211's will not play ANY DVD's, not just dual layer in the single slot in the Comand; CD's only. Bummer. In my 05 I hada DVD with 3G of music which was great; now limited to what a CD can hold.
