Clear Bluetooth Puck's memory?

Went thru about a dozen posts and am either not using the correct words or nothing is posted.

Either way; how do I clear the phones not used anymore from the puck? Both my wife and I got new phones and the old ones are still there. I ask because my truck's BT needed to be cleared (too many phones on it - 3 max) before it would accept both ours.

Haven't attempted on my E yet as I have no idea how to clear the memory of phones...

Thanks!

I don't think there is a way to do this. It uses FIFO (First In First Out) so if you add a 4th and 5th phone, phones 1 and 2 will be removed automatically.

After looking at the manual, it appears that up to four phones can be connected.

No batteries in the puck--gets electricity from car. Take it out and put it back.

I'd assume it uses flash memory and removing it and leaving out of power might not help. Actually I believe it gets eventually switched off every time the car is switched off.

I've seen a post for clearing the phone book, I believe you would have to force it to pair again with your phone (delete pairing from your phone).

The memory for paired phones probably doesn't go off but you can select the four last as explained above.

It's FIFO. Just add a new phone; if full, the first phone that was paired will be dropped.

Diesel Benz,
Just a short note to let you know, you're incorrect in the "switch off." Actually, the BT puck NEVER switches off, which is a REAL PAIN IN THE REAR because if you're anywhere near your car (like home with your car in the driveway or garage) the puck with "grab" your call when you answer the phone. It's unbeleavably annoying.

I have only seen this if the car wakes up - if someone pulls on the door handle, trunk release, etc. Does your car do it all the time?

Sounds like the MOST ring is not going to sleep. Are the blue lights always illuminated on your car?

Baxterdown, I believe that the phone gets released after a certain amount of time (20 min?).

BUT, I wholeheartedly agree that these 20(?) minutes are most annoying. I can't believe the incompetence of the engineers who designed the system. The phone should get disconnected as soon as the car is turned off. My BMWs bluetooth releases the phone as soon as I turn off the car.

This is especially annoying if you have more than 1 car, and you get grabbed by the other...

baxterdown Jan 18, 2009 09:41 PM

No, the BT puck never goes to sleep. It doesn't matter if its 20 minutes or 6 hours. If you're near the car, you can count on the car grabbing the call. I asked my SA and he said there is not fix.

philfna, yes, my partner and I are always cracking up because if one of us is at home and the other at the office, sometimes both cars grab the call and we're both talking to the empty cars like idiots! LOL! The most annoying thing is that you have to wait until the other party answers. If you dial and switch to the phone while the call is ringing, as soon as the other party answers the car will grab the call again and switch to BT. It's a real pain the a** -- My 2004 BMW worked better than this!

I am glad I am not the only one standing outside of my car going hello, hello, hello...son of b..ch. I have to quick run in the car, and then explain what happened.

Polar Bear Jan 18, 2009 10:54 PM

This is very strange... my Bluetooth puck releases after two minutes from closing the driver door, and will not wake back up until the door is unlocked (in which it can grab the phone) or the keyless go is activated. I sometimes monitor my Bluetooth icon on my phone to make sure it has released. The only time this happened was when a family member pressed the trunk release button (the car was locked and the trunk did not open) and the MOST ring woke up and caused my phone to associate. This did cause me to lose a call, but that was the only time. Again, after a minute or two, it released.

Polar Bear, hmmm.... I wonder if we are doing something wrong. As everyone knows, the puck comes with a very detailed installation and operation manual (yeah right!).

Here's how I installed and paired:

- Turned on Comand
- Plugged puck and waited for it to be recognized by Comand
- Pressed MB logo button until puck started flashing rappidly
- Paired phone (iPhone)

Let me know if you did anything differently, or if there are any steps I missed. Maybe there is something you did that the rest of us have not which will solve the problem.

BTW, I have the latest puck (version 2) installed on both our E and ML. Both my partner and I have iPhones. We have the problem in both cars.

Jose
