Ask your self this question, When you bring the car in to the shop for any kind of work, they usually ask you what size engine and model it is, will you be embarrassed when they look at the rear of the car and its not what it claims to be ?
Just wondering.....

I have E63 wheels on it, and an AMG wing, and the only other thing im going to do is to lower it.

Would I be a "l4m3 rIc3R" if I put on this badge?

Help me decide!

The odd thing is that you bought it to begin with. So, you were intending to put it on your car. Now you think it might be stupid. Doesn't make any sense in my book.

Go ahead and put it on if that makes you feel good. In the end, nobody really gives a rat's as* about your car, except you. It's your life.

I work at an MB dealership.

I am an E55 owner.

When a car comes in with an AMG badge on the back, and is clearly not an AMG, the entire staff has a good chuckle.

What are you trying to gain by putting this emblem on, other than trying to portray something that you are not. Even if your car is very nice, you will lose ALL respect from ALL Mercedes-Benz owners who notice (even people driving Smarts and B200s will think it's funny....and worst of all, BMW owners will laugh at you.

Don't do it.

Your car is really sharp,Wusty

On the subject ,I guess if it makes you feel special to have an AMG badge, what ever floats your boat. I guess it's the same way we feel driving a Mercedes, but to be honest, that's apples and oranges.....

I'm not trying to pretend my car is a race car or anything, I've had my share of modified cars in the past, the E350 is the complete opposite of those, and that's why I love it Nice and quiet!

I was thinking of putting some H&R or Eibachs on it, but still researching to see if people are happy with the ride. Otherwise I'm pretty much done with it. I was thinking of adding blue tooth or the NAV (I found a nav unit at the junk yard for $300), but I found I need a lot more than jsut the nav unit to get it to work.

Oh well...

I was thinking of selling my wife's accord, and giving her the E350, and getting a 03 or 04 E55 since they are not too expensive right now, but those are bad thoughts!
Are they REAL AMG wheels, or are they knock-off AMG wheels?

Very good post my thought exactly.

This is a redo, but when I got my CLS500 someone had put the 55/AMG emblems on, I had the dealer to remove it before I took delivery. I didn't think too much of it at first until talking with some fellow AMG owners here.

You can do that in the US too.

If you want to go for the clean look, de-badge, I think that looks great, but we're trying to save you from some guy on the street with a real AMG who takes offense to your AMG badge. Get on an AMG owners bad side on the wrong day and you'll regret it. Lol
My thoughts, exactly. Debadging would probably introduce some mystique, if thats what you are looking for.

Dont be a poser please...Nothing worse than seeing some one trying to front..First thing I look at to expose a poser is brake kit..considering AMG have big break kits and are quite expensive to duplicate...posers fail to address this...leaving themselves exposed to finger pointing and humiliation..

Check this case out: an AMG owner being a newer AMG poser!

It's a shame... since the conversion came out nicely.

I don't see anything wrong with updating the exterior to the new E...but putting on an "E63" and "6.3 AMG" badge on an E55 is just retarded.

Do the AMGs come with dual zone climate? I would have thought 4-zone to be standard?

And one thing to tell a poser,at least in NJ, is on the driver's side window registration sticker. So when you see that ,it's a dead giveaway for a poser...

Funny thing,at the top of this page when I was writing, there was an ad for badges (fire, police) but posers might think it's where they can get an AMG.......

Just the "real" AMGs?
E350's with the Sport/AMG Package do not have the AMG badge, but it appears on the tailpipes and the rims.

back in the days of original AMG you custom-ordered what you wanted on your car, so you could have the full exterior/interior/wheels/etc. and no engine mods and still get the badge, so 'purists' should adhere to that, right?
However, then or now, AMG themselves badge their cars since they are the ones who feel it deserves to have their name on it. so no matter how you look at it, putting on a badge yourself is weak and insulting to the marque....

having said that, back in the day you would be lucky to see an AMG every six months, and the mystique of AMG is not as powerful it used to be. putting a badge on is not really setting you apart from anyone anyways and is even sadder than it would have been... imo.

I think the rebadge is a good idea and don't know why I didn't think of it. In fact, you could mount them with velcro and on those days when you want a bigger car put S63 on it. Feelin' sporty, put the SL63 on.....

You want assurance? I assure you that if I spotted your faux-badged car I would point and laugh.

It's your car - so ultimately you do what you want. The thing I don't get is that the only people who might know what an AMG badged car is will be the people that will ridicule you.

I'd be surprised if an "AMG" badge got anyone laid.

Not... AMG owners who know the difference will just mock you and non-AMG owners outside of the Euro Car scene won't know what it means anyway... Be happy with what you have... If you need an AMG badge, buy an authentic AMG car and drive it proudly... Also, wearing an AMG Badge and not being able to back it up with AMG performance just invites embarassment and spreads bogus "kill stories" among ilk like riced up Honda's, Hyundai's, etc...

Take a look at that re-badged E55 ...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Merce...fCarsQ5fTrucks

Doesn't it look like the lights .. especially the parking lights .. aren't well centered and have way to big a gap around them?
