Rear air bag failures

I have a 2008 E350 4Matic Wagon that had its rear bags replaced with only 12,807 miles. After traveling only 100 miles after the repair the left air bag was not holding and I could hear the air leaking. Car was returned to the dealer and I was told that both of the replacement bags were leaking. I was wondering if any other members have had rear air bag failures? These are air bags not the airmatic shocks.

Update: The original rear suspension air bags failed on Jan. 20, 2009 with 12807 miles. Returned to service Jan. 23, 2009. On Jan. 27, 2009 with 12950 miles the replacement bags failed. Today Feb. 9, 2009 with 13220 miles both rear bags failed again. It should be noted that 32 miles were put on by the service technician during the 2nd repair. Additionally on the 2nd repair they also changed the airmatic compressor and its relay. It appears that these socalled technicians can't troubleshoot, but can be justifiably be called glorified parts changers.

Inasmuch as this is the 4th pair of rear suspension bags on this car, do I have enough to go after the dealer and/or MBUSA under the Uniform Commercial Code. I don't think I can go the Lemon Law route because I purchased the vehicle used. It was titled by the dealer that sold the vehicle to me. It was not a demo. It was used solely by one of the dealer's executives.

Didn't your warranty coverage the repairs? If not, I'd contact MBUSA to see if they will cover the costs. If you're not paying out of pocket for the repairs yourself, why would you "want to go after the dealer and/or MBUSA."? Just make them fit the problem until they get it right.

Warranty repairs are not the major issue. It's a little unnerving to have a bag(s) blow out at 70mph on the expressway. Additionally it takes the dealer a week to accomplish the required repairs when the flatrate manual only allocates .9hr per bag. It would indicate that MB is building a car they can't repair.

Having the airbag suspension go is unsafe. You can go either route whether the car is unsafe to drive or a lemon - even if you bought it used.
