Would be a great idea to implement something along the lines of the UI used in the iphone where apps can be installed at will. Then a user could use any nav system they choose .. even google maps!
But reality is that the current Becker systems can be upgraded as well if someone took the initiative to re-design the software. You could replace the DVD nav drive with a hard drive version in the trunk ... perhaps even add mp3 storage and have the updated OS interface with the new drive.
Instead of spending thouands to replace the current COMAND to the 2.5 version user would be able to get a completely upgraded interface and better hardware without tearing apart the car for new wiring at a fraction of that cost!
