Bike rack for the E-class.

Hey guys, I need help with a little problem. I'm looking for a way to transport 2 full size bicycles on my E-class. I see some people have devices that attach to the trunk of a car and the bikes are strapped on that device. I'm against the roof mounted rack because it will be cumbersome to put the bikes up there without scratching the car. Please weigh in with any ideas and post the trunk mounted hardware if you know that it works. Thanks a lot!

My opinion is you will scratch more on the trunk lid with those kinds of bike mounts than you would with the roof mount type. I take my mountain bikes out all the time with the factory roof rack with not one scratch to date. The factory racks do not touch the paint at all, they just bolt into the mounts on top. Then I have yakima king cobra's on top of the rack to carry the bikes. With trunk mount you are always touching the paint (either the straps that hold the rack on or the pads that actually have to sit against the paint). And that leaves scuffs and scratches big time. Or you could go with some aftermarket hitch. But have not looked into those.

Thanks for the reply, I also thought it would be scratching the paint but people reviewing it saying it doesn't do anything to the paint... Anyways, I'll install it and report later on it. If they do scratch up the paint, oh well, I only have 6 months left on the lease.
