Ladies and Gentlemen of the forum,

Just wanted to share my story on a smart key purchse i recently made. I purchased a 06 E350 and wanted to upgrade my key to and 07' Smart Key design. When i purchased my car i was told by the dealer that if i wanted to i could however it would cost around 300.00 to do so. Needless to say i held off hoping i could purchase a smar key thorugh a third party (i.e Ebay). When serching for the smart key i found numerous places selling for anywhere from 50 dollars and up and all places claimed that the key would work for my year and model car. So i finally pulled the trigger and purchased one for 60 including shipping. When i received the key it was flawless and had an uncut key all i had to do is take the smart key to the dealership and they would be able to cut and program. I went to local dealership here in the orange county area and to my dislike i was informed that the smart canont be reprogramed. As it turns the only way to have the key programed to your car is if you order it through the MBZ Headquartes in Texas throught your MBZ dealership. The Service rep informed me that the key needs to come with your vehicles vin number pre programed.

Needless to say i was unhappy how i was mislead and have already requested a refund from the ebay seller (fingers crossed)

I went ahead and orderd the smart with MBZ dealership at a cost of 230.00 and should recived the key with in the next two days.

I just wanted to post this info for everyones attention in case any one of you were considering doing the same thing.

Or if anyone is intrested in purchasing smart key and is in the southern california (orange county area) the key is for sale or if anyone knows if there is still a way to get my key programmed and cut that would help out as well.

Ya, I had this experience with my 94 S420. Was not happy, never got my money back, and the seller was a big seller on ebay and now is no longer there (I wonder why). The seller has it's own web site now: www.remotesuperstore.com, I think. They acted like it could work. Nope, no way.

Someone once told me there was a way, I don't remember how, but it was nearly impossible to have the connection for it.

Agreed. This forum is so well documented (better than an MB SA) that usually the only other best answer (not here) is RTFM.
