Need advice lower the car or not ???
2009 E350 AMG package .... Arctic white < 6000k top and bottom ... Now i will be receiving my wheels monday cl63 wheels 20 inch staggered ... I do alot of driving back and forth every day about 45 to 50 miles a day. Should i drop it in New york or leave it as is ???
your not airmatic right?
Slam it lol
I have no idea about the roads in NY but if you bought 20 inch staggereds and it isn't lowered it will be a 4wd roaming a concrete jungle. |
Lol 4wd big foot ... No I'm not airmatic is just shocks and springs ... I just don't want that nasty ride and this is my evey day car . And really don't want to feel like I'm driving a civic ...

You should at least lower it to tuck the fenders so little to no gap between the 20"s. Go with some H&R Springs.
Running 20's in NYC as a daily driver is a stretch as it is. Dropping it will only degrade a bad ride to unacceptable.
There has to be a happy medium between looks ("I wanna be tuckin' dubs") and driveability - as it is, you're running rubber bands for tires with the 20's and they will get damaged on NYC roads as it is - a stiffer suspension will only make it worse... |
True idk i got to see how it looks with the dubs this friday when i put them on ... I love the look but dam i blew 18 OEM .... Is just NY roads suck ... any one has springs used for sale that i can try out ....
I would not consider 20s if I was not going to lower the car. Everyone who run 20s takes the risk. I had my 20s on for about 3 months before I could get my ELM installed. It was probably just me but I felt really self-conscious about the "4x4".
Idk if you've seen my 4matic springs thread but I'm working on this. However, with springs installed, be it the Vogtlands that I have or cutting your own, the shocks has rebound coils in them that make for a bouncier than normal ride in some situations. I'd leave it how it is or try to remove the spring pads and see how much you can close the gap. GL
So by removing the spring pads that should close the gap a little >>> I will post some pics of the car this week asap with out droping it so i can get a better look ... I mean isnt the sport package lowered to begin with ???? It looks low already ...
Not mean to hijack here but maybe the answer will further along the conversation but why do people recommend H&R springs over something else like Eibach, for example?
NYC is not 20's friendly. Ive bent 18's and even 16s back in the day when they were popular.
GL with the rims. |
LOL i feel your pain !!! Bent 18s like crazy .... I have a friend with 30s on a jeep crazy look idk how he dose it ??? :nix:
al benzo i just got my car, and it is not coming out of my yard without my 20's and a drop. Ive been driving dropped in New York for about 7 years now. Once you massage bumps and do your best to avoid potholes, you should be fine. but i have to admit it gets annoying after a while, by my profiling season only lasts from May- September anyway... Good luck bro....
Thanks i will post pics up asap the rrms got here to day WOW they look good ... :)
Can't wait to see, gotta love the CL wheels.
Yeh i do love em !!! just taking my time want the car to come out looking right for this summer >>>>>> :naughty:
