How to get a numberplate?
Anyone know how to get a customised number plate, i mean like if you can select your on phrase or number... Anyone know the procedure and the fee and how you go about getting it?

we got a customized license plate "#" from our dealer. we told them, and they had all the sheets, we could choose from about 20 backrounds, and whatever plate # we wanted, want easy, but the problem is that we have 5 letters in our plate, and they didnt center it, so tell your dealer to center it.

All states are different. So unless someone from the state you are getting your plate answers, it is quite likely that anything you get will be wrong. Call the motor vehicles department. They can tell you.

You can go to their website (www.dmv.ca.gov) and try out your own sequences. It'll tell you if that plate is already taken.
Oh, and in California, personalized plates are referred to by the DMV as "environmental plates" (due to the earliest personalized plates being used to generate funds to help save the environment).

in new jersey, it is called personalized plate.
I cannot recall the fee but it is around 50 to 75 bucks and it takes 9 to 10 weeks to receive it if your selection is available.
You can go to your local DMV to get the application form.
