Rear View Mirror with compass available?
Hi guys,
I just saw a picture of a German taxi (W211). The taximeter is build into the rear view mirror. Call this a cool thing.
I also found a company that can put it the Valentine 1 display into the lower right hand corner of the rear view mirror.
So my question now is, does MB has a rear view mirror for us with an embedded compass like so many other cars have?

You can have the W211 MFD display your compass heading by turning on COMMAND and cycling to the NAV menu (the one that displays the NAV information when your car's GPS is guiding you to a destination). If you are using your GPS to guide you somewhere, the compass heading is replaced by arrows and information of your next turn.
EDIT: I used to keep my MFD in this menu for the compass... until I realized I really don't use the compass that much and my MFD would be more useful in AUDIO mode or DISTANCE/MPG mode.

I'm pretty sure you need navigation/GPS installed in your vehicle to access this menu. However, I'm not sure what else is required. I do know this menu is accessable on 2009 vehicles (new COMMAND system), and pretty certain it's accessable on 2008 vehicles as well (older COMMAND system). I'm not sure if it's available for pre-2007 vehicles though...

I know I have the GPS antenna installed already and my car is a 2004 model. My COMAND is a 2006 Euro COMAND.
So all I have to do is push and hold down NAV + 5 for a few seconds?
