help!!!!! scary and dangerous door problem!
hey man i have a serious and some what scary problem.
my car is a 03 e500 with keyless go and im having a problem with the drivers rear door.
when i go to close the door it just hits the striker and bounces off and the door wont shut.
it did this a few times recently but the scary part is that my wife went to the mall about 60 miles away and when she was ready to leave she opened the door,put some bags in then went to shut it and it wouldent close.
well after she kept trying it finally stood shut but a few miles down the road it just opened and i think to my self what if my kid was in the back she could of fell out of the car!.
now my wife is on the way home and she riged the seat belt to keep it shut but it says the door is open on the dash display.
can anyone help?.

It needs a latch.. It is actully a safety feature so in the event of a crash the door can be opened. When the door getts hit the latch/striker breaks so it wont trap someone in.. Ive never seen one fail like this. How many miles?
