Backup camera for 08E350

Has anyone install a backup camera for 08E350 with Navi ?. Due to my grand kids around a lot of time (special summer is coming), I want to install a backup camera for safety reason on my wife's E350. The car is under warranty until 8/2012, if the backup camera install, will it void the warranty ?.Advises are appreciated.

I've been wondering the same question as well, only for a 2007 E350, which I presume is/should be exactly the same...I hope!!

Well I'm interested in a backup camera for an 2006 E350.... However, there sure seems to be an ominous lack of posts here, so I guess it's a no go?

I'd really like this also but something tells me it is basically prohibitively expensive. I think anything over about $500-$750 is not worth the extra cost.

Yep! that would be expensive even for the best solution (i.e. camera comes on automatically when in reverse).

I wonder if there is a simpler solution, where you could manually change the Command to Aux when you want to see behind you?. It's only on a few occasions (kids around, parking, etc) where I really need it. I guess to start with I need to find out if my Command has a "video in" :nix:

Okay so I thought that maybe the license plate frame would be a good place to mount a backup camera and sure enough if you google "license plate frame backup camera" you will come across a while bunch of solutions.

I found the following product on Amazon that seems "affordable" but the real question is how hard is it to get the video from this camera to show up on the Command screen?

I'd love to have something like this installed in the car to make sure I don't inadvertently scratch the bumper :) It's especially tough navigating around garages where they sometimes have 2-3 foot walls ad curbs that you can't readily see.

Here is a start if you want to spend some $$ to have the OEM looking backup Cam on your E-class!...:) Mid City Engineering

The Midcity solution is perfect but it costs $1200-$2500 based on what I read on the above post. I think most people will have a hard time justifying that expense.

I searched around a bit more and came across the following solution. Has anyone used it?
