2007 E350 4matic w/ sports package, 2002 S500
Hey Konigstiger,

Thanks for the heads up on the prices. That's pretty much the cheapest I have seen the OEM struts/shocks anywhere online. If I end up going with OEM, I'll probably just buy from them, but I'm still wondering if the Bilstein parts work for a 2007 E350 4matic w/ Sports package. I know that the B8 struts are listed as "sport" struts, but I'm not exactly convinced that its for a sport suspension. Anyone using the bilsteins or have any thoughts/information?

Thanks!

BTW, if the bilstein shocks are useable in my setup, is it worth it to change all 4? I'm sure the rear shocks can't be that much far behind in messing up. Also, can I just use the springs that I already have on the car?

No help?

No one knows if the Bilstein struts work on the 2007 E350 4matic w/ sports package 1? I know that mercedes uses specific struts on this car that it doesn't use on the other E350's. So I'm assuming that these Bilstein's won't work due to the fact that the B8's are the same struts you would use on the regular E350 and I don't see how they would fit in the 4matic version, especially with the sport suspension. Just hoping someone can verify this for me so I can place the order tomorrow.

Thank you.

Update

I called Bilstein directly and they said they don't have shocks for the 4matic. Although, I don't totally believe him because it seems he just did the same search as I would on their website. Didn't seem any more knowledgeable.

what real effect would shocks have on RWD vs AWD anyway? I understand that the springs by nature would have to be different due to spring rates and such, but so long as the shocks are the correct length, I don't see why they couldn't work.

btw, bmwmercedesparts.com lists the front shocks:

Shock W/4-MATIC, W/O AIRMATIC SUSPENSION, sedan Left
PARTS: Order by description.
MSRPCore ?Online Price$220.00$0.00$161.04
and the rears at:

shock W/O AIRMATIC SUSPENSION, w/sport suspension Right

MSRPCore ?Online Price$195.00$0.00$142.74
the front doesn't distinguish between sport and not for the 4matic, so I don't know. But that right there says you should be paying about 600 for all 4 struts.

thanks jcat, that site does sell the original shocks at a good price and I can save on shipping, but I was just curious if anyones had any experience installing the Bilstein struts on a car like mine. (4matic w/ sports suspension). I'm assuming it just won't be possible.

Wait a second, are you talking about struts as in TORQUE STRUT ARM? or SHOCK ABSORBER,

STRUT ARM: hearing clunks over bumps and feel clunk when braking
SHOCK ABSORBER: Car feel's "wobbly" and has excess body rolle + bounces too much.

I replaced both my strut arms for $75.00 each for the parts and $80 for labor at my indy, so $1,700 is DEFINITELY A RIPOFF.

Do yourself a favor and identify your issue, if your dealer said strut its probably the lower control arm/ torque strut / strut arm... it has a few different names but it looks like this.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/W219-W211-E3...ccc9a5&vxp=mtr

This is a Torque Strut/Arm and I bought this exact one and they are heavy duty versions. I have had them for 30,000 miles + and they are still ROCK solid

a SHOCK ABSORBER looks like this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mercedes-W21...99be57&vxp=mtr

Those are OEM Bilstien (sport) shock absorbers

----
In anycase, unless you have a grand or more to throw away, just buy the parts and take it to a trusted indy and just have them do the labor.
You'll thank me later.

Sorry Dexion,

I definitely mean the shocks. I need to replace the shocks and was wondering if any Bilsteins will fit my car.

With that said, im assuming its probably a good idea to maybe change out the control arms and ball joints will I'm at it. Any input on that? Anything else worth changing while the shocks are being changed anyway?
