Stumped on charging issue 05 320 CDI

Good morning and Hello everyone! Kind of hate that my first and only post is a problem but here goes..so as of yesterday I have effectively replaced almost every component in the charging system alternator the battery control module auxiliary battery and as of yesterday they auxiliary battery control module and still not charging and red battery light. Convenience functions go from disabled to enabled but now since replacing that last component my radio wont fully come on. I'm stumped to say the least I have a fairly proficient diagnostic tool. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

The voltage regulator on the back of the alternator is the only component you should be changing in this situation.

As old as these cars are, I'd go a bit further: Replace the alternator (not just the regulator) after you test to confirm no charging when engine is running.

Also checked both main fuses under passenger side floorboard and main fuses in the trunk for continuity. Any help at all would be appreciated.

Are you sure it's the right alternator? I seem to recall that the pre-face lift model was picky about which one was installed, there were 3 different ones that could go in. Also reman alternators are notorious for being bad remans, I always have them test it at the parts store to make sure it's working before I install it. You should also be able to display the voltage on the dash and see what happens when the car is running. And of course it could be the battery or aux battery that is bad. Get those load tested to make sure they're ok, you could have a short in one which will show full voltage but fail the load test.

The one I put on it is a 200 amp bosch reman. Other than removing this thing for the third time not sure what to do or look for in my diagnostic tool

Thanks for your reply I actually just came to the conclusion lastnight that the remanufactured bosch alternator I bought was DOA so I will be ordering a brand new one. Thanks for your help everyone.

Glad to hear you figured it out.

Parts quality is an unfortunate problem.
