My blacked-out E320

Hi guys, just wanted to show all of you my ride. I am member here for quite a while and i love this forum. Everything useful about our rides can be found here. Thanks for that.

Here are couple of pictures of my ride, i have already done some mods to it, including a fresh new paint. Sorry for the crappy iphone pics, i will take a photoshoot in a short time.
Tell me what you guys think :y

Here's a picture of the car, when i bought it 3 months ago. It looked terrible from the outside, but was just like brand new from inside with low milage. And you just don't say no to the price, which i have been offered.

Looks much better! How did you paint the head light housings? All that's left know is the chrome fog light shrouds and the mirror turn signals....

werewolf34 07-14-2010 06:43 PM

Ballpark, how much does it cost to murder out a e-class?

dynomite05 07-14-2010 07:39 PM

IF you really want to you could do everything yourself except the wheels. The wheels are probably around $100 a piece and I have been quoted around $300 for the head lights. Everything else you could pretty much DIY

It's pretty much DIY. You need a heatgun, to pull the front plastic off the headlights, some people claim, that you can put it into oven, but i was affraid of it, so instead, i used a heatgun. Carefully pull off the front plastic, when the glue is hot enough. Then, you will need to remove the chrome from the housing, its a bit tricky, since there is only one torx on the bottom and everything else is glued. Then just get all the parts painted and reassembly the headlight. I painted also the ring, around high beams, and also the ring around foglights.

And thanks, thinking about also smoking the mirror turn signals.

Brother...I appreciate anyone who puts the time and effort into making their car the best it can be for them. You have made a plain E320 into a ride that is aggressive but not overly gaudy...props to you on a very sharp ride.

Wow, amazingly done! I love both of your cars! I too switched to W211 in December after driving a W202 for 4 years. Both brilliant cars man. Ever miss the W202 though?

Great DIY, what did you use to glue the housing back together

If you are carefull, there is way too much glue all around, so just put everything together, press the plastic back to the housing with good pressure and get the metal clips back. Then simply heat it with a heatgun or hairdryer again and press everything together, that should be enough. I just put a bit of glue that is used to glue windshields in places where i removed some of the old one.
It takes some times, but it is really easy.

night and day difference. Look more aggressive and menacing!

denysimo 07-15-2010 09:34 PM

Thanks man. Those are 19" CL63 AMG replicas, powdercoated gloss black, and is lowered with H&R springs.

stevbo200 10-21-2010 06:20 PM

did you paint the chrome trim along the car or take it off?

mike2291 10-22-2010 12:21 AM

looks amazing!!!!! great turn around... did u repaint the whole things?

K-A 10-22-2010 02:35 AM

That front light tint and black grille look super hot on this car.

Where did you get the Tint done (on the headlights), and what kind of Tint film, etc.?

For the headlights it looks like he "joey modded" them. Meaning he opened them up and sprayed the silver parts black. Basically you remove the headlight and heat up the adhesive/silicone holding the lens (using a heat gun or in the oven). This will allow you to remove the lens cover and paint the inside. It's definately not a mod for the faint of heart. Since there is a possibility of actually cracking/destroying the lens cover. I actually tried this on another vehicle of mine, which resulted in me cracking the lens, even though I was carefull (had to buy a replacement :wall:).

An easier way is to purchase tinted lamin-x headlight film as seen here.

Thanks. ^^

I'd love to put a verrrry light Tint on my headlights, but it seems they don't even make tint light enough (that pic you posted is pretty much spot on though). And I really don't want to sacrifice even an ounce of light output, which I'm assuming, even the lightest tint would do.

Vik888 10-22-2010 05:33 AM

I'd like to put tint on my headlights as well and don't want to lose the amazing light output of my bi-xenon's .. oh well.

Same here. I don't even want to lose a tiny bit of it, so that's what's keeping me from really looking for some super light and clean tint.

Vik888 10-22-2010 05:37 AM

wampa, in that photo you posted, is that Lamin-X?

gaazmon 10-23-2010 03:47 PM

Can these "headlight covers" from lamin-x help prevent the lenses from turning hazy?
