I can't be the only one that prefers the look of the pre-facelift W211 (though I may be the only one who then bought a post-facelift one). I just think the the earlier nose and especially grille is sportier, while still being elegant.

I prefer the post facelife W211 w/ 321 AMG Sports Pkg.
Don't like the 333 Sports Pkg (lower picture) at ALL.

When i see w211's on the road, i find the post-updated ones to be more eye-catching on the road. Mostly because of the updated smoked tails and the longer chrome strip on the trunk.

I had no idea there was a difference.
Even with the pre and post facelift cars parked next to each other I can hardly see a difference.
Probably much more important that reliability increased after 2007.
Too bad they quit making a V-8 4Matic with the 2007 models, otherwise I would get my self one, but the looks would not be a factor.

for me it's the top of the grille that bothers me, with the much more prominent chrome surround and the extra badge. That extra badge looks redundant (to me, at least) when one replaces the hood star with a flat badge.

It's a coin toss, except the later version wheels, in your pictures, are nicer by far. Otherwise, neither is a "looker". Which is OK, these are sedate, dignified, middle-level manager cars, not flash rides for those with a need to shout "Please look at me!".

I agree with the vents on the side, I have the 321 AMG package also, but what the hell, if it free, I might as well do it. I might just have to end up changine out the oval foglights to the round ones.

imho, a little of both. When I went for a CPO 2007, I had to get the 321 AMG package. I felt the non-AMG post-facelift bumpers looked funky because the chrome bling and the sorta arching foglight cutouts that didn't flow across the whole bumper.
I actually like the pre-facelift taillights out back. Post-facelift, the clear turn signals with the reverse lights kinda looks blobby whereas the pre-facelift separator red gives it more shape.

Both have their perks. I think the post-F.L looks better given equal Packaged cars VS each other.
Pre F.L with AMG Package > Post F.L without AMG Package though.
Taillights wise, stock for stock, the post F.L looks much classier and more interesting, and the longer chrome strip works with the design, but the pre F.L tails look outstanding when smoked, as it brings out the coolness of the dual white reverse lights contrasting.

Hmmm, mine is a 2007 E550 (V8) 4Matic Sport with the option 1 and 2 packages. I think this combo is fairly rare because I've only seen one other equipped like this. I've also updated it with a rear spoiler, AMG rims, AMG pedals, 20% tint and bluetooth.
