CL500 wheels on a E350?

Hi all,

Does anyone have any experience with the following wheels/tires, and will they fit on a 06' E350? They're AMG's off a CL500.

Thanks

CL500's

FRONT WHEEL SIZE: 8.5 J X 18 H2 ET 25.

REAR WHEEL SIZE: 9.5 J X 18 H2 ET 28.

FRONT TIRES SIZE: 245/45/18 100Y WITH 10/32 NDS.

REAR TIRES SIZE: 275/40/18 100Y WITH 10/32 NDS.

Wheels will fit, but tires will not (1" too high).

Thanks MB, Got the info out of a manual 2006 E350... states for mixed tires:

Front 8JX18 EH2 30mm 245/40 ZR18

Rear 9JX 18 EH2 39mm 265/35 ZR18

Two questions...

Will i have a problem with the offset on the new rims?

And is the tire above the correct tire to use?

Thanks much!

Offsets of CL wheels you listed above is just fine for W211 - it will push these wheels to fenders edge. Personally, this is the look I prefer.

Tires however, will not fit. You need 245/40-18 and 275/35-18, not 245/45-18 and 275/40-18 - these will not fit.

Great,

Is this the tire package on the E55 AMG's do you know? I'd like to visually get an idea before hand. :y

Your manual will state the correct info for all W211s. Sizing different from those can be found by searching MBWorld.

the CL wheels will not look proper.... I put a set of CLS AMG wheels on my car.. you have to put lower profile tires onto the 18 inch wheels and if your car is 4matic.. you will have to talk with Luke at Tirerack to try to get the closest rolling diameter...

my buddy has a AMG CL55 and I look at his car everyday at the coffee shop beside mine before I sold it... the CL wheels will not work...

remember.. the CLS is a E series in drag.

the other thing is that from my experience... the car only drove well with the airmatic suspension on sport II ... and your car doesn't have airsuspension...

in other words... doing what I did over "tired" the car.. (8.5in front and 9.5 in rear) IF I was doing it again.. I would find 4 "fronts" off of a CLS55 or 63.. then you don't have to worry about the 4matic or tire rotation..

just my 2cents..

also.. over the 50K miles I had with mine.. I cracked 3 rims.. bent all 4 of them for sure... and had a total of 5 blowouts... so if you live anywhere with bad roads. by the hazard insurance from tire rack.. you will need them.

I had PS2 tires..

Geez cyclrder,

That's a drag, And no i don't have the airmatic system. Just a stock 2006 E350. Think I'll just go with one of the other stock 17" wheels offered for this model. Don't really need the staggered setup, so the 8.5's make sense...why do you think you had all the damage to the wheels, the LP tires?

CL500's

Those set up(Offset) originally form CLS, not CL...CL Class has offset of 44mm same as S class.

Also, 245/45 and 275/40 still fit perfectly without any rubbing on W211. Actually will sit out a bit wider due to lower offset and will look much better...

Acusti,

I had a blowout going 15 mph getting onto the 59nth St. bridge...

it is just terrible if you have any kinda bad roads... you will have issues.. a lot of it is that you have to keep the front tires at 29 PSI and the rear at 36PSI ... if you don't ... it screws up the rolling diameters...if you go to much higher.. the inner part of the tires wear fast...

Look.. I got fed up with the tires.. owning a E series out of warranty.. I just bought a GL550 with "wheel / tire insurance"!! hahaha

I would look for a set of these on ebay..

very nice... also, with the AMG wheels.. you need to paint your calipers.. (mine weren't finished very well so I painted them black)

pm if you'd like to talk more about it.
