considering a 2009 E350

I am considering purchasing a 09 E350 with 10K miles. Price is very attractive and with CPO and original MB warrantee left seems to be a great deal. Any reasons why I should consider the 2010 E350 over the 09?

Thanks for any input.

Since I own a 2009 Bluetec I can only comment from looking and reading about the 2010. Prior owners of E350's who bought the 2010 have said they think the 2010 handles a little better (tighter). I can see that the Nav screen is better positioned in the 2010 and there is a wheel like controller for the Comand system to supplement the buttons and voice command. Styling is subjective.

The 2009 has the new Nav and Comand system without that controller significantly improving Nav over the previous model. I'm happy with my 2009 which has been reliable, great riding, and handles well enough for me. Good luck.

...only if you a fan of the w212 styling and not fond of the 211!

Anyway what causes you to have a second look on this matter? Is it the itch to get a brand new car with fresh smell of "leather" and paint?

imho, 09 is the best and last iteration of 211 model with pretty much all-known bugs fixed w/ a bit bias. 2010 is the first year of the 212 model with the same motor with only face-lift inside and out. As a matter of fact, I have not come up w/ a logical answer to get into a 2010 or 2011 other than spending more money on a brand new car now!

imho, if the price is good, then go for it. You'll be spending more on a new W212 and will take the huge depreciation hit. Plus there's a new motor coming out very soon. If you want a W212, wait for the face lift and new motor plus other changes that will show up then. There's not a big enough difference right now to choose a new W212 over a good solid CPO'd 2009 W211.

@ Maddic - Actually i really like the look of the W211 - And i'm not really having any second looks but just wanted to ask before i purchase this car tomorrow. I've had the car this weekend on trial and just absolutely love it. BTW still has the new car smell IMO.

@ Klister - this 09 comes with the Voice Controll which is handy

It is the luxery version which i perfer (like the smoother ride) w/P1. I'm currently being countered with $37k w/CPO from my $34995 initial offer.

Any thoughts on what others are paying?

Thanks all for inputs

I always thought 09 E class all equipped w/ the 321 AMG Sport Package, and I didnt know you can still get that Luxury version also. Luxury and P1 are not many of them around for sure...

E350s with P1 are a dime a dozen, but P2 equipped car you have to look a bit harder to find what you want. Id stick to your initial offer price because car with P1 are everywhere, and should you look for another car with at least a P2 if dealer wont budge on that, just a thought!

Well the dealer not coming down much on their offer. We are still $1500 apart and i think as the month comes to an end they will come down to my offer.
What in the P2 does everyone like? I thought the keyless go would be great but when i test drove one last week (and it was only 90 degrees out) I burned the hell out of my finger on the metal start button. Rep was saying the trick was to use the key fob to push on the start button. Well that right there i realized what a pain. Easier to put key in ignition and turn.
Back up camera is great on my GL450 but don’t see the use on a mid-size sedan, and parktronics isn’t useful to me due to i think I’m a pretty good at parallel parking (haven't scratch my wheels on my 2006 car).
Any other features I might be missing in P2?

imho, you'll come to really appreciate keyless go. Don't listen to the dealer, that's ridiculous to use the fob. Next time note that you don't have to hold the button down to start the car. All you need is a super quick one-touch. If it's hot, then take your thumb and slide it across the button instead of just pushing it down and you won't feel a thing. It was a poor design choice, however. If it really bothers you, then get a small fabric dot with adhesive on the back side and stick it on the button. Keyless Go is a great convenience and it's one of those things you'll think you'll never want until you have it. Then you won't want another car without it.

With P2 you'll also get HID (Xenon) lamps. That's worth the price of admission, imho.

Let the dealer sit for a while if they won't go down in price. There are a lot of these cars out there.

There is a thread in W212 forum. Personally I'd prefer taking W212, certainly interior got nice improvements. From driving point view two cars are mostly identicals. And I prefer W211 exterior look.

@ 220S- point well taken on keyless go (dont know what you miss until you have it). Sense i'm coming out of a lease (have 9 more months to go and i'm completely happy in my volvo) i'm really in no hurry to purchase so time is on my side. by by then prices will drop a lot more on 09 and the 10's will be in the price reange i'm looking at now.

@ Dema - i like both the 09 and 10's but wanted to stay under 40k. just bought the wife the GL450 so unfortunately for me money was the object. I do like the dash better in the W212's and it does look roomier.

Like the old Rolling Stones Song suggest:
Time time time is on my side, yes, it is.

Congrats on vehicle. i the have luxery version, just like the smoother ride. you did well on your purchase. was yours a CPO or do you just have the remainder full factory warrantee?

I got the P1 also, was looking at one today with P2 (pano roof is cool) but could not fine a luxery version with P2.

It looks like your car is P1 as well similar to the OP's car, but his/her car is a luxury version with a lower mileage than yours w/o the parktronic system. I guess its a fair trade!

@Mindoro - I don't have pano nor partronic. Sounds like you did well. Gotta say I love this car. Completely satisfied and look for reasons to drive.

Considering you posted in the W211 forum you're going to get some biased opinions. With that said, I personally think you made the right choice. You would have paid around 15 to 20k more for a new W212 for a car with less than stellar interior materials/design. The 212 has more goodies and safety features but at the end of the day you got a rock solid sedan which you will feel good about every time you get in. Nice choice and don't look back.

Shraymundo, problem is you are always going to find something cheeper. You did well.

When i was looking for mine i came across a09 e350 like yours for 35500. but upon inspection it had door dings, chipped paint, a nice deep scratch in rear pillar. Smelled like a smoker had it ( i dont mind smokers hell, i part take every once in a while but not in my car)

I like my clean car, looks like it was brand new. No second guess on my part.
