2008 E550 Service D

How much are you paying for this service?

I did a quick search/google and didn't find it.

It should be about 4 hours labor plus parts. D does not refer to specific service, just the time it will take to complete. Look at Maintenance Manual to find specific services involved

My Service D, on my '08 E63 was around $400... Oil change, cabin filters replaced and brake fluid flush/replacement.

They must have found more that your car needed during the inspection?

Vik888 10-26-2010 07:25 PM

there is a sheet you can find on this site that shows you whats due at that milage and years. So two people could have "Service D" and require different items.

I go by the official service sheet and not by the alphabet soup.

I called the dealer to schedule an appt and see what would be done. At 23k miles its and oil change and inspection. $370.00

Its miles *and* years .. at 3yrs for example the pano roof has to be serviced (if you have it) .. etc.

My car is also due for service D in about 9K miles. I just checked the FSS and it looks like these are the items that is needed for my car (yours could be different though) :

1 Due when displayed
Check brake pads & rotors front/rear

2 Every 60,000 miles or 4 years
Replace air cleaner insert

4 Every 30,000 miles or 2 years
Replace dust filter

9 Every 2 years
Check bodywork for paint damage
Check chassis and load-bearing body components
Replace brake fluid, check pressure of reservoir

10 Every 3 years
Clean slide rails and shoes to sliding/pop-up roof

12 Due when displayed
Engine oil and filter change

13 Due when displayed
Check fluid levels, correct/repair if necessary
• Brake system
• Power steering
• Windshield washer system
Check safety catch and hinges on engine hood
Check auxiliary battery condition
Function check
• Warning/indicator lamps, illumination and interior lighting
• Windshield wipers, washer system, headlamp cleaning system
Inspect tires
Check thickness of front brake pads
Check main battery.

FWIW since it was only an oil change and 'checking' things I went to my mechanic that does all my other personal/work vehicles and had it done for about $136.00. Just couldn't pay $370+ for an oil change and there is no way they spend 2 additional hours looking around a car with 23k miles still in warranty

....

So, what do they do when they find some clear coat chips? Or some light scratches? Can they actually fix them, or they would just tell you about it?

IMIEIW 08-20-2015 02:41 PM

I could be wrong but my manual doesn't list service D. Comes up on dash Service D in 25 days. Still don't know what service D is. Does it cover all the numbered services as mentioned above or basically oil and filter changes?
