Cam Plugs; Oil Separator
Had my wife's W211 at dealership this morning to have two new tires mounted on rear. Technician reported finding oil leaking from the cam plug(s) and oil seperator (his spelling ... not mine), all of which could be repaired for $252.52. I declined his invitation, thinking I need to know more about this problem.
If you can describe the problem and the cure, I might be able to do this repair myself ... and pix and pointers are always welcome. And if the job is beyond me, there's a great indy here in town who can do the job.
Thanks, Mate.

I have the same leak on my 07 E550 from the separator. I've got 115k miles as well so I decided to redo the whole PCV system with parts totaling just about $180 from ECSTuning. I meant to get and do the cam seals at the same time but forgot to order them. From research I've done here, the cam seals are extremely easy, pop out, pop in. The separator has 4 torx (I think) screws holding it in and is attached to a hose that connects to the throttle body elbow. Should be a fairly easy DIY project.

Would be nice to know what engine we are talking about.
I just did reseal breather cover, what I assume is the problem described above.
Since I did it during plugs change and had coils already out, that was like 10-15 minutes job.
On 320 engine there are no seals, just one of the hyper-silicone sealer you have to use.

Inspect “oil separator” & centrifuge to identify which is actually leaking: http://workshop-manuals.com/mercedes...ce_and_repair/ + next pages.
