Keyless Go

I was just wondering for those of you with Keyless Go.. about the Shiftknob. From the pictures I have seen.. it seems to be color coded to the interior but LOSES the wood from the stock shift lever. Does any have pics of the E class Wood/lever for keyless go (about $150 on the mbusa site.. but picture is from another car).

I'm thinking of getting it with my NAV-Reorder.. but love the wood on the lever.

Thanks
Peter

Here's a copy of a picture I posted in the forum back in late October '02.

Sweet!! Thanks dude.. and from a fellow Houstonian at that! I am also going to order the charchoal this time around on my e5.

Did you get Greenway to hook you up with any extras or compensation for the replacement car?

No, they don't budge much. My salesperson said they had a meeting and that my extended warranty would transfer and the dealership would cover the LoJack installation, but when I spoke with the inventory manager he was unsure. He's e-mailed MBUSA to get the official stance.

My experience with Greenway is that they are very nice and have a good service department, but don't expect them to give up a nickle.

Let me know if you work any kind of deal.

My E500 Sport came with the wood knob shown in the pic except in black bird's eye maple. I thought it was an option and I didn't order it and wasn't charged for it but it had it. Maybe it came with the wood wheel?

Chris

In your picture of the Keyless Go knob.. was that "extra" or is that the way it came from the factory? I notice MBUSA has a "wood" shift knob for keyless go. All the other pix I have seen (and other models mainly CLK's) have a one color "plastic" knob.

Thanks
Peter

Peter,
I like your new color combo. I have had Obsidian Black and it looks real good!

STKLAW, do you find it hard to keep clean, and swirl free? I imagine the plain non-metallic black would be really tough, but the Obs. Black seems to be a good compromise.

Though I wonder about the charcoal interior esp with the Houston Summer looming.. but it's ALMOST a neccesity since my son LOVE to get his feet/shoes ALL over the car.. and cleaning the ash is getting old.

Ash is easy to get dirty but i think its the second best color next to charcoal. you just have to spent some time cleaning it.. i get ash too and everytime i go inside the car, i really have to be carefull.. even if my friends ride with me i asked them to be careful

No, it was not an extra. I was confused by the MBUSA site also, and ordered a wooden shifter and the wood wheel while my car was being held in the VPC before delivery. When the car got to Houston, the shifter had the wood already on it. The dealership gave me my money back for the special order shifter (exactly the same as what came installed). I had not ordered the wood wheel with the car, so they did install the wood wheel for me a couple weeks after I got the car.

'Course, that was back in October. I would not think they would be doing anything different with the shifter, though.

Peter,

I thought that Obsidian black was MUCH easier to keep from seeing swirls. Of course they are in every finish the same it's just if you can see them. And, although Obsidian black is not as easy to hide them as a silver or lighter car I found it pretty easy to keep it looking nice. I did polish the swirls out about every 6 months but I think if you want any car to look it's best you need to do that. But believe me, it's a hell of a lot better than black. My daughter has a black Jeep and I have given up on keeping the swirls out. I'll attach the Obsidian black that I traded. (By the way I got tectite just for a change and because it was new, not because I had any problems with the Obsidian Black.
