2008 E350 Pricing
Attempting to get a 2008 E350 with ~25000 miles on it
Was given a price of 44K and heard something mumbled about 30K
Am I correct in assuming the 44K was when the car is brand new and the current price should be ~30K?
Is that a fair price?

I am coming up from Pennsylvania myself and was interested in the Ray Catena dealership. Do you have any experience with them? Any hearsay? Would I expect to get a more competitive price elsewhere? My understanding is that Ray Catena provides outstanding service and reliability but it comes at a higher cost compared to other dealerships or finding a private seller?

2007 E350 w/sport package
I purchased my 2007 E350 w/sport package on May 12, 2010. It has a build date of 3/07, and an "in service" date of 05/25/07. So I bought it with 1 year of remaining factory warranty.
My purchase price was $28,200 plus tax, plus title.
It had 22,700 miles on it. Was in immaculate condition. I was able obtain the previous owners name who leased it. Called her and had a conversation about the cars history. Also the VMI showed a good servicing record. No accidents, one owner car.
Six days ago, on May 24, 2011, the day before the original newcar warranty expired, I purchased the MB ELW 7yr/75k (extended limited warranty). The car had 27,600 miles on it (I put 4,900 miles o nit the 1st year I owned it.) It cost me less than $3,100 after aggressive negotiations with several out of state MB dealers.
So bottom line, if you add the $3,000 ELW cost to the purchase price, I wound up spending $31,267 for a 3 year old MB E350. Got 1 year of the new car MB factory warranty, plus the 3yr ELW I purchased, for a total of 4 years of MB warranty.
I have the original window sticker which shows a MSRP of $51,200.
In the next 3 years I can drive 47,400 miles under warranty = peace of mind.
So if you break it down, I wind up getting a 3 year old MB E350 with a 4yr/47k miles MB warranty. Paid $20,000 less than MSRP. Car depreciates less in years 5,6,7, which is when I will own it, so I don't take it up the *** on depreciation.
If I decide to sell the car before 3 years I can charge more since the new owner can transfer the ELW to him. Or I can cancel it at any time and get a pro-rated refund for the unused remainder (minus any pay-outs).
WIN WIN WIN situation for me.
Thanks to all those people out there who buy new MB's, so people like me can swoop in and drive a MB for the price of a Honda. My hats off to them.
PS: A 2008 purchased today would be 3 years old, and with the same miles as mine, I would say under 30K is what you should be looking at depending on miles, condition, and options.
