What tires would you recommend for my 06 e350, and why?

Need to know more about you first. Do you live where it snows and will you use the same tires all year? Do you value performance over ride or vice versa? Are you an aggressive driver or not?

I live in south Louisiana. No snow, just hot as heck! I want something in the middle. Good performance, but rides well. Road noise with these Eagle GT's are aggrevating. Purchased my car with them on it already. Even I know you don't put Goodyear's on any Euro car, and I'm a girl!

Based on your preferences and location, I suggest Michelin Pilot Exalto PE2 or Continental Extreme Contact DW. The PE2 provides excellent performance with ride comfort and quiet, but the DW is actually a higher performance category tire, but has unusually good ride and quiet for that level of performance. Price may play a part in deciding which makes best sense for you, but I would shop both of them.

Others may tell you what they like for themselves, but this suggestion is based on your weather (not cold or snow), desire for a middle balance between ride and performance, and your desire to improve on the noise concern. Also, don't confuse DW with DWS, which are different and designed to also be useful in the snow. (Dry-Wet-Snow=DWS). I specifically did not select any all season tires, as you wont' benefit from the compromise.

Good luck!

I put a set of these (Bridgestone Turanza Serenity) on my 06 E320 CDI and love them. Good ride and quiet and the HR rated tires have a 70K mile treadware warranty. Set of 4 from CostCo just under $600.

I drive the same roads you do and went through 3 sets of tires before I found a set that works.

Michelin's PS2 are great tires and came on the S500 in the showroom.

Returns your car to the new car ride and in our weather they work well.

I spent 5 yrs at that little school on the East bank of the River with the cat in the cage. I gave my last $1.00 to buy the last yellow / black cat. But that was years ago before the white / black cat showed up.

Hey vettdvr! My dad recommended the Michelins too. We are implants here, but I have always had relatives down here. Look for my granite gray metallic with the gorgeous crimson "A" on the back. ;0)

PS2/PS3 are great tires, no doubt, but may not be in line with your particular combination of ride/quiet/performance balance. I believe Michelin has a satisfaction guarantee which allows you to return tires for another Michelin model if you're not happy. You could start with PS2 and if too noisy/harsh, come back for the Exalto.

You know your dad would not steer you wrong. Go with Michelin's PS2's and PM me if you want to know where to buy.

Are you or your Dad an alumni of the school on the river with the cat cage?

No kitty alums here. I do have a sister-in-law that is. My hubby went to the game Saturday night, however. It was his first in the stadium. He had a good time, but said it was nothing close to Bryant-Denney. Slightly biased, of course. ;0) I have several more months before I need the tires, but I am going to start shopping around. Do you ever use the indy shop on Airline? I think they sell tires.
