Diesel E for US market? Arrival date?

Diesel E for US market? Arrival date?
Does anyone have current updated timeline when the next model diesels will be sold in US? Or for pick up through European Delivery? Also which are the 4 or 5 states which will not allow it initially?

The word "diesel" always provokes a mixed reaction on the board.
I am afraid I do not know when the diesel is planned for the US, but as one of the few forum members with a diesel E I just wanted to say how great they are.

From what I heard, California, Massachussetts, Connecticut and 2 other states won't be recieving the new E320 CDI.
The US is supposed to adopt the ULSD laws like in Europe by 2006. By that point most of the world should be running on the same quality, low sulphur fuel. I am hoping that if diesel E sales are strong enough they will bring back the diesel in the S-Class. I have my eye on it as well, your're not the only one awaiting the next generation diesels in NA.
My $.02, okay, an extra $.01 too :-)

Initially it was reported that the diesel E would surface in the US in early 2004. More recently it has been reported that there has been up to a year's delay from that date. Apparently it will show up as a 2005 model, but whether we see it in 2004 is uncertain. Perhaps our Canadian friends can clue us in as they seem to get more accurate information earlier than we do from MBUSA - and yet the same models come to both countries.
